I spent most of my apprenticeship as an Ironworker (local 736 of course!) working there. My highlight there was definitely building the newest ore bridge with Canron in 1999….💪🏻👍🏻👍🏻

The Caster that you are seeing at 2:43 is number 2 Caster which is part of the EAF stream. #1 Caster is a two strand Caster

I appreciate your comments concerning safety! Fabricators should do everything they can to prevent fume inhalation, yet I see hood after hood enveloped in fumes. Why can't they just use NIOSH masks?

Because most of the Machine Operators, oversee 99% of the Steel Fabrication inside of filtered air Control Booths. I worked ~ 15 years in the Cold Mill, and there was NEVER an accident, on my Shift. All employees (and especially visitors) were mandated to follow safety. Hard Hats, never by-passing Yellow Safety Tape, cert work boots, proper clothing, no jewelry, and (in some cases) Chemical and Gas sensors.

Those coil carriers don`t exist anymore, I used to drive them steady and they retired them and cut them into pieces, now they use tractors with rams equipped and carry one at a time.
