I have been watching this channel for almost two years. This person is a Genius. With each iteration of the bows he makes, there is something new to see. This is sheer genius in action. Right from the overall design to the smallest detail, each aspect is well thought out. He presents archery as a fun and safe sport, with a high level of accuracy for beginners. The fun part will be if it can be fully automated, a " Robo-bow" with all automatic sensors for shoot at sight.

Mathieu Le Muzic Yes, my comment was mostly made jokingly. However this would have the advantage that crossbows have of being much easier to learn then a longbow, which took years and years to develop the coordination, muscle memory, and technique use the high powered bows. And these can fire much faster then a crossbow, I think ideally you would have two bows with one person reloading one while the other rapid fires arrows. So while the English would probably stick to their longbows, anyone going up against then and wanting their own effective long range would benefit from these greatly

If you watch his video about the Mongolian style one he intentionally made it with only materials they could have accessed, so while their tools would have made it more difficult it could have been done. ambushes? sure. Cavalry charges? i mean, its not like longbows are easy to shoot on horses, but you'll usually have pikes with foot soldiers w/ crossbows or longbows, it would only be effective against unarmored opponents, its not like a 150 lb longbow that can pierce 3 inches of iron

4:00 Hi Joerg. I have been following your channel for the last six years and I am a senior development engineer here in the UK and I think this is the best design you have ever come up with. You need an aluminium prototype of this running in low friction bearings. It is a game changer in my professional opinion. I'm tempted to knock one out myself to be honest...
@massv2910
4 жыл бұрын
I work with some extruded aluminum profiles, you can pretty much have anything custom made for enough money and there are tons of stock profiles out there I think could work for the main body portions of this, agree about the bearings, needs a small rail section for a sight and the whole thing streamlined down and lightened up imo. He is really onto something with this one that could be more than a fun toy, really hope he can get someone to licence this idea
@STUCASHX
4 жыл бұрын
Spot on @@massv2910. The design could be "tweaked" to utilise a standard size extrusion profile and have simple bearings just made from solid Acetal. Keep the rubber bands for springs too. would be very cool. I wonder if you'd be allowed to call it "The Legolas"

That why the panzers of ww2 are good and bad at the same time. To many cooks in the kitchen. And thats the reason todays germany domenates the maschine market.
