@@dennisdemark8151 Being raised as a Catholic the episodes with Father Majeski were so inspiring in that they illustrated his faith by example/action and less by word. 1) His 1st episode regarding the cling peaches hitting his car 2) Majeski, the Lorenzos, and Edith being 'converted' 3) Edith (the kleptomaniac) and her reaching out to Father when she was at her end The St Mary's mass episode Archie to Edith: Did you get on your knees and kiss anybody's ring?; Did anyone take a stick and splash water in ya?; Did you eat a cookie?l Father Majeski to Archie: If the ignorant were blessed, you'd be a saint Archie to Father Majeski: Look at the pamphlets the Lorenzo dame is leaving with my wife - 'The holy fathers newest encyclical' as if anyone care what he is riding around on. You are 100% right, we will NEVER see the likes of this again and society is lesser off for it.

That happens to be correct. The catholic church gives much more importance to its own traditions and dogmas than to the commands of the one they call Lord (the word lord implies service and obedience). The Reformation was an attempt to get back to the ways of the primitive church. Some protestants read the Bible and live as Christians. Lots of catholics are nice, even wonderful people, but NONE of them is even aware that Jesus gave his followers orders to be followed. They think the rules of their church are what God wants them to do. In many cases it is the exact opposite.

I found All in the Family on disc, gave it to my grandma who was in her 70s. We both howled. Very few comedies have that appeal, and are just as funny now as back then. That reminds me to dig up The Jeffersons.

I find it interesting that Father Majesky says he's going to the movies to see "Dillinger." Years later, the actor Barnard Hughes went on to star in "Tron" where one of the primary antagonists was Ed Dillinger.

Well, DON'T because there is no connection whatsoever. This episode aired in the fall of 1973. Earlier that year, a film was released called "Dillinger" and it was about the life and criminal exploits of John Dillinger the bank robber from the 1930's. Rather popular, it was shown countrywide in most theaters. It was just used as a current event of the day to use as a comparison to Archie's behavior.

I was 6 when it started and it was the same with us. In fact, even my aunts and uncles watched it. If we had an event like a family birthday when the show was on, we had to tune in. I agree with you, today's snowflakes would get triggered by the first 2 minutes and protest and picket the network.

Actually, almost none. He was VERY professional. Plus this was taped in front of a live studio audience, the first major sitcom to do so since shows like I Love Lucy were done on actual film back in the 50's. So for continuity, there were few retakes.

It's on reruns on channel 68-3 in New York from 11p.m. to 1a.m. Monday to Friday. Check your local listings.

@evilunixuser1 Archie was opposed to Catholicism. He took his grandson Joey to be baptized at the Protestant church the Bunker's were members of. Archie wasn't against religion as long as it was Protestant only. Notice in his comments how he stated a difference between Catholic and "Christian" To Archie, Christian meant only Protestant.
