Here's a quick sketch of a Corinthian-inspired column capital of my own design! It is technically a composite capital combining the Doric, Ionic, and Corinthian orders, with an emphasis on the Corinthian.
The Five Orders of Architecture date back to Ancient Rome and are classified as the Tuscan, Doric, Ionic, Corinthian, and Composite orders (with the Doric, Ionic, and Corinthian dating back even further to Ancient Greece), in order of most simple and visually strong to most elaborate and visually graceful. These orders were based on a proportional system and have a nearly unlimited variety of applications within architecture and, as shown here, can be mixed or adapted in an incredible variety of ways!
