Archvale is gonna be a great game, It's beautiful and inspiring I love the game style but I also like the nitty gritty in games like puzzles and stats and I haven't seen much of that yet. So it'd be nice to see something where you open your inventory and have an in-game log like a journal that players can fill when they beat an enemy or equip a weapon so all the stats are in one place and how many times have you beat the enemy kinda like a pokedex but for enemies + animals, weapons, abilities, locations + biomes, and agriculture such as crops and ores. Thanks for the Devlogs their amazing.

for some reason i've been following this youtube rabbithole of game devlogs. and I have to say, this is the most promising of them all so far! I love the idea of a "Binding of isaac/smash tv meets terraria" type of game with resource gathering and crafting. haven't seen it before. All the animations are so smooth and appealing, movement seems enjoyable, combat seems fluid. Great sound design aswell! Good luck with the project!

The armor problem for a spear could be solved by having a buffer on enemy armor so after you hit them their defense will go down for a second allowing you to try combo-ing individual enemies and letting multiple-projectile weapons to function.

I think this goes underrated due to people overrating themselves thinking they could do the exact same thing as others could. It's not easy to program the most challenging part is coming up with a idea and creating the idea to later find out it's not compatible with the rest of your ideas creating tons upon tons of bugs and varios glitches. I am quite impressed how you've managed your time here, Making a game while making videos is very time consuming and most people find just editing and making videos to be a challenge. Appreciate this video even though it's the first one I've seen of your channel, Will make sure to watch some videos of you on my train trip later today! :D Hope you have a great day!

Instead of throwing ice blocks, maybe you can have a small ice pillar, that after you hit it a few times it explodes and slows down/freezes enemies in a certain range. It can encourage luring strats, and trying to hit the pillar while avoiding attacks can be interesting. (I hope I conveying the idea clearly, sorry for the poor English)

Great devlog, thanks for sharing. I do think that making the rooms individual encounters makes sense on paper but I think it makes the experience more claustrophobic. When all of the rooms are of similar size and contain an expected encounter it removes some of the mystery and exploration. I prefer to explore large areas versus unknown individual rooms. Perhaps it is matter of opinion but I prefer the larger rooms with multiple encounters or events versus individual rooms. It also allows players to choose how they proceed through the room/area. If they bolt in without warning and take on too much then that is the risk they take for wanting to move faster through the level.

This game is sick! I don’t know what you have planned for later levels, but I think it would be an interesting idea to add items that give bonuses under certain circumstances (Reviving you at 1 hp when you die, giving you more gold when you kill enemies with *[Insert weapon here]*, etc.). A crafting system could be fun, especially if it partially changed (Like, the materials don’t change but the order you put the in changes or something.). I’m just trying to give you some ideas to make the game have that level of replay-ability. (which it certainly isn’t bad at). Love the content as always!

The boomerang can have a damage multiplier based on the velocity or 'the time until it comes back'. So it multiplies by 1 close to the player and when it is at the point of turning around, the multiplier is 0.1 or some other small number and thus isn't as powerful at a larger distance. It can also deal less damage when the list of hit enemies is larger.
@IDoZYT
4 жыл бұрын
second solution is probably the preference, there's a super cool side effect when fighting against a single enemy where if you hit the enemy right at the peak of the boomerang's movement it hits the enemy twice and feels real satisfying. first solution would end up making that feel a lot less cool probably!
@randomyoutubecommenter2787

I've been watching your games develeopment since ep 3 but one thing that always through me off was the attacks. First of all, I feel like the slimes should shoot slimeballs (the colour based on the colour of the slime) and spiders should shoot singular cobwebs that do damage and slow the player. Also the spear, instead of shooting three balls should be a singular white copy of the spearhead that has the same reach as the three balls. By the way this world that you built is amazing and I hope it is a success
@IDoZYT
4 жыл бұрын
spear-head is certainly a good idea -- those balls do need a redraw! however 3 separate projectiles is core to the design of the attack, it forces you to position yourself in a straight line from the enemy to do max damage (as you'd have to do with a spear). enemy attacks are supposed to be consistent in appearance -- red outline, white core, with variations for debuffs (green outline for poison, for example). i know they can look odd to start with, but clarity is going to be an important thing to establish for later game when there are a lot of projectiles on screen :)

Don't know if it would make too much with the actual on enemy death ^^ I love the color code for text on damage, pickup, etc. Maybe it's missing a bar to show you when you can dodge ? or is it timed maybe ? Also do you plan to make the weapons destroyable ? I'm very interesting in hearing about the lore of the game too ! :D
@IDoZYT
4 жыл бұрын
there's screenshake already! however some very slight motion blur is also applied, i think its causing some ugly compression problems on youtube which kind of hides the shake. dodge is infinite with only a tiny cooldown, you're not invulnerable during it! we're going to keep weapons durability free :) thanks dude!
