I was hit hard by a car while on my scooter at a red light. This FUV with the tubular cage reduces the main problem with bikes, which is exposure to careless drivers of vehicles that are too big and powerful for them. If motorized personal transportation has any future at all, it's in smaller, lighter, and slower vehicles like this.

Been following this company for a while and think they have a great product in the right location and use cases. In areas like the San Francisco or other similar tourist areas, I think a rental for day touring could be a fun way to see the city. Anytime gas emissions can be replaced by a clean plus fun alternative, it's a win in my book. The stock for this company is still very cheap so not much of a risk for a possible reward in the not so far off EV future.

I like this a great deal. Like an electric Renault Twizzy with 4 wheels mated with a motor bike. More performance than the Twizzy, more room for rear passenger, with bigger trunk. Twizzy does 50 mph and range of 40-50 miles with half doors. Sold since 2013. We hired one for a magical fun spring day 2015, in the stunning mountainous island Madiera (Portugal). Three restaurants in the Nuns' Valley offered free charging while you lunched and explored the village. The Archimoto raises the fun level another notch. Optional half of full doors will widen the appeal in less sunny climates. The Twizzy has one advantage - better side impact protection.

I've watched a lot of video's on this vehicle and [none] of them talk about the Warranty on the entire vehicle itself - especially the 'Battery and electric Motor life'. Tesla now warrants their battery for life, or 1 Million miles, whichever you want to call it. No one can compete with that.
@TheTechofTech

Tesla’s battery warranty is still 8 years, and the miles depends on the vehicle, but it’s never more than 150,000. They do expect to warrant the motors in the Semi for what you quote, which is probably where you got those numbers. www.tesla.com/support/vehicle-warranty

Oh god. Okay, so I have an ebike that is loads of fun, and I think for the most part, it satisfies my need for 2 wheel/open canopy fun. But I really don't want to ride on roads, so I'll always use bike trails or sidewalks when practical. I only ride for recreation, though I might occasionally ride to the office on nice days. I have my Model 3 for most commuting, and getting a motorcycle or something like an Arcimoto is not necessary since traffic isn't bad or anything. But I've been kinda itching for a motorcycle lately to get more speed than my ebike can do (about 30 mph), but I'd obviously need to ride on the roads, which means considerable danger. I have a reservation on a Metacycle, but I'm not sure if maybe this thing would be a good option for a fun road vehicle to take out every now and then - BUT also I don't really like having things with overlapping missions, for example, I don't like the idea of having more than one car, or more than one bike, or more than one fridge, more than one house, more than one microwave etc etc. My car solves my commute need, my ebike solves my adventure/recreation ride need, though the only way I can justify something in the middle is for faster than ebike but less practical than car, but there's so much overlap in that space that I'm sorta thinking my way into a corner now. Does the cost of producing these Electric Vehicles cost more pollution? What happens to the battery dies out? If you get hit by a car, truck, or any bigger vehicles what are the chances of you surviving the accident? If you are sitting in the back you might need a helmet. Lack of visibility is dangerous but lack of protection is also dangerous.

This is classified as an electric motorcycle and should be compared to the safety as such. So this model is 100 mile range but 32 mile highway. Now with recharge in field (not your house) you will get 80% max charge or 80 miles. But this does not account for battery degradation over time. So as stated, good for most things that are needed. In my case I would like to visit my 2 sisters who are 70 miles and 80 miles away. So for me I would like to have a 150 mile e-vehicle at minimum. I currently have a Mitsubishi I-miev 8 years old and of 16Kw, only 10Kw remain usable. Which I am still able to get almost 50 miles in city, but only 30 on freeway.

Nothing wrong with opinions, Rick. We all have 'em. Still, I think the Arcimoto is a wee bit safer than the average two-wheeler largely due to the roll cage. Sure, it's not as safe as car, but it's a reasonable compromise for those who want a motorcycle experience. Like anything, defensive driving is key. I've owned a few small British sports cars and I'm fairly certain I'd be squashed like a bug if someone plowed into me. Just be aware of your surroundings, approach intersections with eyes wide open, anticipate run-off situations and don't speed with lots of traffic. I'm 56 and no accidents in 35 years! The Tech of Tech I see your point. I think that is a false security though you are in an open vehicle. That Could actually be more dangerous than a motorcycle, during turns three wheeled vehicles are notoriously unstable. Lots of areas require motorcycle licenses and helmets for for trikes. Think about how many accidents you’ve avoided in your car by quickly swerving out of the way. You can do that on a motorcycle too. I have my motorcycle license and you can just lean quickly and make fast turns in an emergency. In a trike you can’t really do that. You’re not as narrow as a motorcycle so you can’t fit between a car and a curb and it’s hard to gauge the tipping point for how fast a turn you can make is. Front wheel trikes are safer that’s why you see them more often. I don’t think the cage and seatbelt offer much real protection at all. This motorcycle attorney seems to agree. www.michiganautolaw.com/blog/2017/05/15/motor-trike-safer-motorcycle/
