Every video shot shows very nicely groomed gravel roads. It seems that hard core is just enduring cold, mud and drizzle.

Nice seeing the scenery. I doubt those are real Inukshuks. Real ones are built by Inuit who live much further north. This is Dene country. I worked on a survey crew for 7 weeks in 1977 on the Dempster. We travelled back and forth from the Ogilvie Mtns to the NWT border and saw no Inukshuks. And we were often off the road. We did see rapid turn-over in wildflowers, wolves from the highway, golden eagles, long-tailed jaegers, groundhogs, and ptarmigan. A wonderful experience. We drove 3/4 ton pickups which are far more suitable!

LOL - I think the flicker is a interaction between the scan rates of the camera and the LEDs used for the tail lights. It was a constant running light to the human eye. Thanks, regarding the LWD/R comment, we're a different approach and super-small time by comparison. I have full respect for what C and E have done.

Very cool video. I have ridden up to Prudhoe Bay on the Dalton Highway several times (on a GS, then a GS Adv then the 800GS) but the Dempster is still on my 'to ride' list :) Happy travels.

OK Guys, I want to ride the Demster.....thing is I had crazy thoughts about finding more agressive tires for my Yamaha Royal Star Venture. I have been told that riding this highway on such a big heavy (800+ lbs, then add me 200, and gear) would be insane/impossible even if I found a suitable tire. The goal of the ride is not for but the challenge. I will look at other bike options (KLR 650?) but would love some feedback, if you ever read this. June 27, 2020. Awesome video - Cheers

Joe, On a good day it's fine. Folks do it on cruisers. It's just finding the good day in and out. If you do take the Yammy, true give yourself the time to wait out the weather if it turns, and let the road firm up. Maybe consider late July or early August, which can offer better weather. Cheers, and enjoy the adventure!

I enjoyed your video so far.. if you will please tell me?? Can you give me the exact location on Arctic Circle sign on Dempster Hwy?? I have been searching for it. I plan to travel to AK and will go to Arctic Circle sign 60 miles south of ColdFoot AK, but what about Yukon? And is there one or two Arctic Circle sign in Yukon?? I was told there was 2 total? 1 in AK and 1 in Yukon?? Thanks in advance for answering!

I went to the Nordkapp in Norway. Also north of the polar circle but nearly all asphalt. Nearly crashed into a deer in sweden. Had to drive slalom around sheep sleeping on the road and rendeers as well. Down the norwegian coast was the best part. Trollstiegen is overrated. Nice but too short.

That's a hell of a risky trip to take without being able to swap a tire.... I'd say that's one of the first maintenance chores you should have under your belt before doing an Adventure run. Tow truck? C-mon, you Canadians are way way rougher then that!

That tow truck killed the whole video for me. Arctic circle, frontier, taking to the limits and bam, a town truck will take you to the shop when you can't fix the tire problem. Too much equipment, too much money, too little courage and creativity. Thanks for posting but as I said, the ending is hard to discount.
@granthurlburt4062

They're comparing the bikes. You are a long way between two trucks and repairs for tires. I spent 7 weeks working on that highway on a survey crew in pick-up trucks in 1977 and I wouldnt ride a motorcycle except for a challenge. It's a lot more challenging that being on a major highway south of the southern NWT and Yukon borders.

@granthurlburt4062

Have you been there? You'd easily be in trouble driving a Toyota car unless you had a phone to call your friends and were in no hurry. The road surface is really hard on tires and you have to be lucky with the weather. You can get a big snowfall and be cut off in most months. We were snowed in for four days at Rat Pass on the NWT border crossing in late May on the Dempster in 1977.
