@@Flinstone_Edible that's why buying all young players was key. The next two years they probably will spend a bit less even though revenues will go up. I think Arteta was told we can back you, but only to a point. I don't think they would have went spent as much as they did on Trossard and Jorginho (or any other 28 and/or 31 year olds) if they weren't so close to taking the league. Notice their other signing, Kiwior, is a 23 year old left footed CB. He's backup/insurance for Gabriel as essential to their system is having a left footed CB on the left and right footed on the right (Saliba). Happy to hear Kiwior's athletic measurements were off the charts for a CB. Combined with the fact that, like Pep, Arteta would never get a CB who doesn't have excellent ball skills, and he sounds like another possible elite CB. To the fans saying Edu can't sell - it's because he didn't inherit valuable assets. Look at the team now. We have guys not in our top 11 (Tierney, Nketiah, Balogun) who would actually fetch some real money in a sale. At least half of our top 11 are now the kind of £50+ million players we used to dream about. And a bunch of them (Martinelli, Odegaard, Gabriel, Saliba) are now worth double or triple what we paid. The club has also had the huge debt of the new Stadium weighing on its shoulders for a long time and has always teetered on financial troubles since. The recent signings they’ve made at the cost they had to pay have been bargains and with champions league money coming next season, I can’t see them possibly being in a better place financially. Their wage bill is tremendously low compared to the rest of the big clubs and will hopefully allow them to sign quality depth players for next season, as that is the main problem within the squad currently.

Jorginho short term along with Elneny makes me think that the Rice acquisition they keep being linked to is to play him as an 8. I have no idea though but the name of the game is flexibility. Spurs are riding high off commercial revenue thanks to the newest stadium in London, England. But as you pointed out, they have one of the biggest debt number in Premier League. If they do drop off top 4, their revenue stream would take a significant hit, and they might be in trouble. That’s why you’re seeing Levy signing all these agreements elsewhere to have their stadium utilised for non-footballing activities, like the recently signed deal with F1 to have karting events held at their stadium.

Just cos Arsenal doesn't spend recklessly it doesn't mean they are broke. They have in the past spent money wrongly on signings that didn't work or sometimes failed to spend money to improve the squad to make it competent but that is all in the past now. Since the Kroenkes became sole owners in 2018 money has been made available to improve the squad. For example in the 2018 January window when Wenger was still at the club, they signed Aubameyang for a lot of money, they also gave Ozil and a very big contract. And then continue to spend money in the next two summers under Emery, including the high fee of Nicolas Pepe etc. But all that never really took Arsenal anywhere until the structure was changed with the arrival of Edu and Mikel Arteta. Their task was to rebuild the squad and it wasn't an easy journey. A lot of money was spent but it was sensible, like when they spend 160m on 6 players whereas other clubs were spending close to 100m on a single player etc. Also they didn't completely rebuild the squad in one window like how Chelsea have done, they took a few steps in the process and some of their signings were stopgaps. At the end of the day Arsenal do spend money but they spend it correctly right now, unlike in the past. All this is the brilliance of Edu and Arteta, they are only after the players they want and are not competing with other clubs for player's price tags.

Majority of clubs already do, losses are kept relatively low due to financial fair play. You have to remember that Arsenal & Spurs debt was to fund new stadium. That is relatively good debt.

My club has always been a "Football First" kind of club. Yes, we must improve our revenue income to compete sustainably into the future. But this is reassuring to me as a fan that the primary focus has and hopefully will always be "Football First". That's what we want as fans. COYG. 🔴⚪️

This summer will be be our best selling summer in years so our net spend wont be as high if we sell Pepe, Tavares, Balogun/Nketiah, Mari 5m, Lokonga, and Potentially even Smith Rowe which would easily be over 120m without Smith Rowe mabye 80- 100m
@azrrrrrrrr

why would arsenal sell smith rowe?
@sebastianwallin3726
Жыл бұрын
Smith Rowe has a market value of 38 million euros. It is unlikely given he ain't in starting position that he can be sold at any price above his market value. Smith Rowe = 38 million euros Balogun = 50 million euros. Nketiah = 25 million euros but likely no club will offer more than 10 million given the clear chances he miss

If not they soon will be. Winning the 2022/23 Premier League title will see to that, and very decent run in the UEFA Europa League will no doubt help ease any financial woes

Premier League has been even higher quality than other leagues this year. Seria A has been fun but quality of games in EPL has been UNREAL this year. TV Rights should rise in coming years as even more interest in the league and more investors move in to buy clubs. See valuation on ManC increase. Yes spend has been high but coming 10+ years = massive returns. Arsenal if they win EPL this year gives enormous benefits for coming years + Champions League revenue and more tv exposure with young solid signings even better. But irrespective of all those, Arsenal will benefit from the whole league's health: Brentford, Brighton, Newcastle are all playing well. Fulham, Palace have their days as well. Even Not Forest are pulling off a few results or Bournemouth winning at Liverpool or A.Villa with Emery. The intense competition breathes enormous spectator value into the league and this trend will pay back a lot to the clubs as a consequence.

I think the main cause of the fall in revenue matches perfectly with the fall out the champions league then out of the Europa league while finishing poorly which led to fan dissatisfaction. This and the ridiculous amount of useless players eating up wages Now that Arsenal are starting to get back on track they will get a healthy payout for finishing 1st or 2nd in the EPL and get that Champions league revenue they’ve sorely lacked for the last half a decade
