My first snake was a Stimsons Python, I was about 10 years old. I'm currently 12 and I'm waiting to get my marbled children's Python, so I can definitely say that this video is actual facts

I ended up with a children's python when my neighbor more or less "handed" him to me then fed him a live mouse while I was holding him. He is the chillest animal I have ever owned. All he wants to do is hangout to the point where he has learned the click of his enclosure and will bolt towards my hand as soon as I open it. He has never in the year I've had him strike at anyone even after being dropped on accident, and some accidental rough handling by an unaware relative. Seems like I got pretty lucky, Sir Frederique Von Lichtenstein is the homie.

Its funny how many videos talk about how bitey children's pythons are. Mine never tries to bite ever, he is the most chilled out snake ever. Even if you disturb him from sleep he still doesn't bite

Mine is the exact opposite! He was gifted to me because everyone who has owned him has gotten biten every single time they handled him. He's hook only for me and has never gone after me.

My Children's python has never been one to be held. Ive had her since hatchling and she's always been bitey with me and others. Despite handling her as a hatchling, she's always gone after fingers or wrists. Shes even gone after my face a few times 😅

ME TOO!! Literally a gorgeous and dirt cheap that everyone passed at an Expo because the owner said he was bitey despite multiple people trying to socialize it with regular handling. Bit someone every single time they took him out! lol I named him Picante and I just don't handle him without a hook, although he's only bitten me once! lol I googled them and the first pic that pop up is a pic of one biting!!

Handle regularly during snappy phase "so when they're bigger, they don't bite your face off"... Hilarious in such a terrifying way😆😬

Well said, all of it. Although these snakes are easy to keep alive and well, they are not for people that fear being bitten. Not to say it will absolutely happen, but some individuals seem to think hands/wrists smell like something good to eat.

Once a week for a few minutes is fine as it settles in to its new environment it should calm down on its own as it grows

The children's python I've handled is a gentle guy. His name is Little Lad and he is the calmest snake ever. I am actually getting a hatchling children's python as my first snake. They are so pretty and can move surprisingly fast.😂

Hello. I have a few questions. With their initial enclosure can you have it "adult size" and then clutter it up or is that not recommended? If you do provide UVB would it be harmful for them? Is a diet of mice okay as well or can you also feed smaller rats for variety?

@luyandalamula9009 usually I've found with hatchlings in large enclosures tend to be very reclusive and fearful even if it's cluttered they hide most of the time and can be difficult with feeding versus hatchlings I've kept in tubs quickly become habituated to people and approach me for food as soon as I open the tub, I personally would wait till they are minimum 40cm ish before keeping in a display enclosure. Regarding UVB it's perfectly fine to use on them if you want to, and you can feed smaller rats instead of mice if you want to as long as it's appropriately sized.

What are the cons of a yearling in a full size enclosure even if there’s lots of hiding spots? Does the size freak them out
@reptiplantworks2294

Not necessarily they just might hide alot is all and can take longer to tame down because they don't see you as much as a snake that's out and about more often, but it depends on the individual animals personality aswell.

Great advice. I'm glad that you point out that snakes don't enjoy being handled.
