I have been planting bulbs and seeds from the Doller Tree for years now and I have always had great success with them. All my perennials come back every year! I love the gladioli’s and they survive my 5b weather in the ground. I have also gotten many from Dollar General with the same success! Thank you for showing this video and look forward to your future updates! 👍❤️🌺🌼🌹🌻🌷🌈👏🥀🌈🙌😊

My husband saw okra seeds at dollar general 2 years ago, so he picked up a pack. They grew over 6 ft tall and we were getting bunches. Last year, he happened to be in Lowe's hardware and decided the okra did so well the year before he would grab a couple of packs. Well, last year what okra actually sprouted did not grew more than 6 inches tall and then died. This year he went back to dollar general for all our seeds.

As a horticulturist and frugal minded person ,a favorite tip I use is to soak regular food beans(pinto,Lima etc) and plant them..they will grow and make lovely vine to cover fences,poles etc,any blank places..and you'll get sweet pea like flowers and some bean pods to add to your stir fry too Moon flower is not perennial and be sure to pluck off the large seed pods in the fall after they dry as much as possible- and save for the next year.ALWAYS store your flower heads(zinnia seeds etc) in a paper letter envelope and write on the outside what it is .If you save seeds in plastic bags they will mildew.Keep the zinnias and marigolds (any non self cleaning flowers!) "dead-headed" and they will continue to bloom longer.Itscthe purpose of the plant to produce seed and "babies" Sweet Banana peppers are the bomb! Try planting marigolds to deter pests and be careful planting dill and letting it seed as well..you'll NEVER see the en of it!

I have also used them for years and years, but be sure to get there early as they sell out very quickly. A hint I hope you don’t mind my sharing is if you take a pair of scissors out with you and deadhead or snip off all the fading blossoms the plants will last much longer. Producing seeds saps all the energy and reduces blossoms.

The inexpensive seeds I buy, 3 packets at CAD$1.25, from Dollar Store or Unlimited Bargain Store germinate according to their schedule. At times, I even sow them indoors for early flowering. The results are very satisfactory. If you want to economize, you can also buy gardening essentials like weed control fabric, hedges/fences, stakes, planters, etc. at a much lower cost.

Even old seeds from a 2-3 years ago are still germinating (at a lower rate, granted, but I keep them in the house in plastic organizers and they've still got life in them). The marigolds in particular, I bought the big boxes for $1 and sprinkle them along for a border near the beds-- so many great healthy marigolds for so cheap.

Great video! Love your flowers! Astro morning glories, I’ve never had any problem with morning glory seeds but at a nursery being invasive. As for the invasive ones, yeah those are pretty annoying and pretty persistent, but they’re completely different from any of the morning glories that I purchased at a nursery. My first more attempt at growing morning glories turned out well, I was growing light blue morning glories, I forget the name, but they did quite well. This year I might have to run over to the dollar tree and see if I can find any seeds to add to my yard!

I've purchased $Tree seeds this year. I'm new to planting and have some questions. I noticed you have a bird feeder near some of your flowers. I'd like to plant in a bed that also houses bird feeders but I'm afraid the birds and squirrels will eat all of my seeds. How do you prevent that? Did you sow right in the ground or start them indoors? Any tips for success that you'd be willing to share would be much appreciated.😊
@MajesticSuburbia
4 ай бұрын
I'm not exactly sure why, but I've never had a problem with the birds or squirrels eating my seeds. If I were to make a guess- I live right next to a forest, so I'm sure that helps keeps them occupied and there are some feral cats that roam my yard daily, probably making it a little risky for them to forage for any food on the ground. Good luck with your seed starting!!
