It’s really easy, just point your front foot, practice on grass so it doesn’t roll if you need to

Treat the board like a separate floor Put your non dominant foot pointed forward on the screws at the front of the board and your dominant foot sideays on the ones at the back, (this will be the pushing foot) Put you weight into the middle of your feet, and lean on your non dominant (back foot) to turn towards where you lean And prepare to fall, a lot, bring a med pack with you or put on protective gear

that's what I was thinking, and I recognized my old university, UCSD, which is just hills everywhere. I loved longboarding back to my dorms in Warren which was at the bottom of the hill, but boarding to the lecture halls the other way, my legs were crying everytime. Can't imagine doing that in freeskates

The fact you can just put them in your bag is amazing, but these won't do where I live, I have to slow down in a lot of places so it'd be a hassle having to stop and start all the time, and the sidewalks here aren't that smooth. I'd love to have a pair as a side thingy to use sometimes, but I'll stick to my boards and bike for daily commute. Even though I hate having to carey my board around school. And I think I'd rather get new skates than these, they can handle more.

Wow what a blast from the past! I still have an original pair of these, the full aluminum ones, with box and all (even the old business cards I think). Used them only a few times, it was pretty cool to use them in dedicated skating areas but they were indeed a bad choice for going around where I live. Skill issue probably. I had even bought skating shoes especially for riding these lol

I graduated college like 6 years ago. I remember seeing a kid riding around on freeskates. Had no idea what they were at the time but it looked cool and super simple to store in backpack or whatever in class. I rode a skateboard cuz the parking lot was like 2 miles away from the engineering building, there was a good few times i forgot my skateboard and had to go back, luckily it was there every time

I used to orbit wheel if you know what that is, very similar to this but a bigger wheel. It was very difficult on anything other than smooth flat ground. Very inner thigh heavy. That said, it could just be that they had crazy amounts of bearing friction

I would have assume it would be much like with any board or skate that going over a rock or bump would just throw you but its good to know that you have some more control. Still wouldn't do it it on any rough concrete or pavement though. And if its anything like a ripstick you for sure don't want to run it through puddles or over wet pavement or concrete

The biggest difficulty I have with them on my college campus is that the ground is EXTREMELY HILLY , and it feels near impossible to generate enough consistent force or momentum to get up even the smaller inclines let alone the steep stuff

Oh 100%. It definitely takes practice, but there's a level of hill to where you'd rather not skate it. For me, I hopped off my skates and walked during these extremely steep hills. For moderate hills, though, it's definitely possible to get comfortable 👌

These look sweet. I used to love ripsticking when I was in middle school and it looks like the motions are similar. It's been like 15 years since I've ripsticked but shit looks like fun. I dont think a lot of commenters understand the appeal of these. They don't bog you down like rollerskates (needing to put them on and take them off), they're easy to toss in a bag and just walk when you get to your destination, and they offer way faster speeds and better movement than Heely's
