Definition of motor. (Entry 1 of 3) 1 : one that imparts motion specifically : prime mover. 2 : any of various power units that develop energy or impart motion: such as. a : a small compact engine.
@misnlinc48
4 жыл бұрын
I agree, a motor vehicle imparts motion and well made ones are a prime mover, off the car lot. They sell. They use" motor oil" because before, you lubed motors before engines. To " go a motoring" is to get motion for people from a machine. Mechanized Transpo. But in tech school engine class, if you wanted to get in a bad light with the instructor? Confuse the terms, an engine makes horsepower and develops horsepower. A motor creates a motion with a predetermined potential directly from the power applied, like a vacuum motor, a linear motor, an electric motor. People use confusion to mess up language that's why scientists publish in Latin. So Taryls version of the motor comes from the def, 2 and it's considered right. Number 2.

I'm also curious as to what that red substance was. The only things red are the Jerry can, the plastic fuel stainer in the engines fuel tank, and the fuel shut off valve. Hard to believe that a treated fuel failed before untreated fuel. I've personally used k100s+ for years, and some of our equipment has sat for more than a year and still starts. Very sad to see a treated fuel fail after only 6 months, as that's usually the time untreated regular 87 fails, yet that one started right up. Would be nice to find out what exactly that red substance was, if you could pull more out from the fuel tank and possibly try to determine if it came from the k100s+, as the jar above the engine doesn't contain any red. The fact that the glass jar doesn't contain red leads me to believe that the red substance came from something other than the fuel or fuel additive.

Something else that would have been cool to test would be one engine with no fuel additive...but you empty the float bowl after every starting session, and let the engine run until it uses all of the fuel. See how much crud accumulates inside the bowl just from residual fuel. I store all of my power equipment in a climate controlled garage, and I never empty the fuel tanks or the carbs, I don't even start them every month, I just let them sit all winter and in the spring, they take a few pulls to get running, but they always start. I've read that emptying all of the fuel is worse than leaving them topped off due to condensation accumulation and varnish/crud happening more easily than if the tank/float bowl are full. Would be cool to actually see which is true.

I have seen 40+ year old steel gas tank tecumseh snow blower engines sit ouside with no gas have no corrosion issues in the fuel system at all but half tank worse case scenario, then started rinning them on 10% crap fuel started to see surface rust form inside the tanks designed to start running treatment. That being said 2 cycles should never be drained or carb gaskets will get hard. I drain out the gas and prime straight 1/4 oz seafome threw the carb and lines for winter storage. Wish I could say never had to change a carb however its not because of pluged jets so much as 10 year old worn out and cracking primer bulbs fuel lines and gaskets were all perfect.

Many days here where the weather is warm and humid, I have observed condensation dripping off outside of the fuel tank going from very cold to warm and humid. According to Donyboy's videos & the K100 website, the thing that supposedly separates K100 from others is its ability to covert water to a burnable substance. From the website: " K100 seeks out water droplets and permanently bonds itself to the water molecule, totally encapsulating it with a burnable organic compound. As the engine runs, the encapsulated water is harmlessly burned with the fuel, releasing a beneficial cleansing steam." Just a guess, but maybe that's true in the short run; that is, to burn away a water problem once it is detected ... but longer term, like in Taryl's test, it actually causes fuel to deteriorate.

I could care less about the wordsmithing foofaraw but it is hard to ignore how its easier to call an engine a motor than it is to call a motor an engine. With that said... im off to find an engine for my old window fan. See what i mean?

I'm really glad you guys made this video, I was going to buy K100 on Dony's endorsement, glad I didn't waste my money! I'll stick with sea foam and stabil for now until the experiment shows who the best is/are.

If true, K100 is pure crap. It is possible some contaminant was in the brand new engine fuel line or tank, and it was not the K100 at fault. Are fuel filters installed?

Excellent information and fun!🤣 I use VP excellent in all motors. Berryman also cheap good Alot of locals use Non Ethanol from Farm supply here also. I found water in almost all my motors carbs this spring that I used pump gas in even those covered in barn. Alcohol pulls water out of air I guess.

i started using stable "storage" version in our generator and mower 2 years ago, fired up the genset last month with no problems using the 2 year old fuel. it gets very hot here with large temp swings of 30 degrees or more with high humidity.

Briggs and Stratton themselves used to refer to their engines as motors, don't believe me, I'll show you the last page of my 1941 model I manual, where they themselves claim they were at the time the #1 producer of small 4 cycle motors with a photo of the factory, they referred to them all the time as motors back than. So the people who are correcting you on that don't know what they are talking about.

Shoulda tried out Schaeffer's "Neutra". Not a fuel stabilizer specifically however I run it in my stored marine tanks and have never had any issues here in NE Wisconsin's humid summers/cold winters.
