@Alex Marciano Noblejas, actually, there are twenty-five extant families of carnivorans, Canidae (Dogs), Ursidae (Bears), Ailuropodidae (Giant Panda), Phocidae (Seals), Cystophoridae (Hooded Seal and Elephant Seals), Otariidae (Sea Lions and Fur Seals), Odobenidae (Walrus), Mephitidae (Skunks and Stink Badgers), Procyonidae (Raccoons, Ringtail, and Cacomistle), Ailuridae (Red Panda), Nasuidae (Coatis, Olingos, Olinguito, and Kinkajou), Melidae (Badgers), Mustelidae (Weasels, Ferrets, and Minks), Lutridae (Otters), Ictonychidae (Zorillas, Muishund, Shulang, Huro, Grisons, Wolverine, Tayra, Martens, and Fisher), Felidae (Cats), Protelidae (Aardwolf), Hyaenidae (Hyenas), Nandiniidae (African Palm Civet), Prionodontidae (Linsangs), Poianidae (Oyans), Genettidae (Genets), Viverridae (Civets), Herpestidae (Mongooses), and Eupleridae (Malagasy Carnivorans), no less.

Surprisingly pandas are only an informal and polyphyletic group, which explains why the families Ailuropodidae and Ailuridae are very different from each other and are not closely related, the former belongs to the superfamily Ursoidea making greater pandas (Ailuropodidae) more closely related to the bears while the latter belongs to the superfamily Procyonoidea making lesser pandas (Ailuridae) more closely related to the raccoons, ringtail, cacomistle, coatis, olingos, olinguito, kinkajou, skunks, and stink badgers.

In all honesty, I think the origins of dogs is missidentified. I've been watching studies of dogs, wolves, and foxes and see more resemblances between foxes and dogs than wolves and dogs. A documentary about dogs goes into an experiment in russia with silver foxes, where selectivly breeding them lead to mutations such as a curled tail, barking, and even coat color changes when no other species of canine had been introduced. I think the ancient chow chow may also back this up when it is believed the chow chow and pomeranian may be related closer than we think
@couchgrouches7667
10 жыл бұрын
1. Foxes are not closely related to dogs or wolves. 2. Genetically wolves, dingoes and dogs have been confirmed to be the same species, because they are not that genetically distinct. 3. Shortened legs, curled tails, barking and coat color changes would probably occur in any canids that would be domesticated similar to domestic dogs. Also, chow chows, huskies, akitas and pomerians are all breeds of dogs categorized as Spitz dogs.
@indyreno2933

Actually foxes and wolves are both dogs, any member of the family Canidae is called a dog, just like any member of the family Felidae is called a cat, any member of the family Cervidae is called a deer, any member of the family Camelidae is called a camel, and any member of the family Suidae is called a pig.
