Easy Red Sauce
Ingredients
1 28oz Can off Peeled Tomatoes
4 cloves of garlic sliced thin
4 Big Fresh Basil Leaves
4 TBSP Extra Virgin Olive Oil
1 TBS butter
1 TSP Salt (Adjust to your taste)
Ingredients
1 Large Fry Pan or Skillet
Can Opener
Knife
Cutting board
Wooden Spoon
Gloves (optional)
Directions:
To make the delicious Weekday Red Sauce, start by opening the can of tomatoes. If they're whole, crush them in a bowl using your hands (wearing gloves can help keep your hands clean). Next, peel and thinly slice the garlic. In a large skillet or frying pan, coat the bottom with extra virgin olive oil and add the garlic and fresh basil. Turn the heat to medium and cook them slowly until the garlic browns and the basil wilts, which usually takes about 3 to 5 minutes. You can choose to remove the basil at this point or leave it in for added flavor. Then, turn the heat to medium-high and add in the crushed tomatoes, cooking until the sauce begins to reduce and thicken, with bubbling being the desired outcome. Be careful not to burn the sauce. Once it reaches your desired thickness, add in the butter and stir well. Serve the sauce and savor every flavorful bite! Enjoy your homemade Weekday Red Sauce!
