@@jimkiousis Hi, they are a bit noisy but nothing to be worried about. The middle position is very chunky, I use it for blues and funk and it's pure fun. Sometimes it reminds me of BB King's kind of tone. I really like the tone and the playability..and last but not least, it looks really nice.

Got that exact model. I wanted a humbucker when they came out but after Johns video on the H7V, I opted for the P90s. No regrets. Looks, sounds and weighs great at just under 8.5 lbs. Frets were slightly rough, but nothing 2 hrs of playing didn't smooth out.

Just received my guitar. Several quality control issues. Black residue rubbed off the fingerboard onto my fingers. The nut was way too big and high. Pots fully functional but askew on mounting posts. Neck, bridge and saddle all needed adjustment. Cost $120 USD to have a tech fix the problems (except the pots which would have been prohibitively expensive). The guitar now plays like a dream, but waiting for Sweetwater to respond to these issues.

I've had the H7V for 2 weeks now, done one Jam Session and one 90 min Gig with it, mine is with P90's and in the Larry Carlton Red burst, I did try the HB and P90 versions in Andertons, personal pref was the HB for bridge and P90 for neck, but decided to take the P90's, as it is a tone I like, for the kind of music I play, I wasnt sure I had made the right choice on pups until I played it full volume with a band, these are very good guitars, and my first 335 style guitar, I've been put off cheaper 335's, i.e under 1K, in the past because, they havent been as good as the Gibson, less so with other models, like SG's and LP etc, I have a Tokai LP, I could afford a Gibson 335, but music isnt my day job, the Sire is more than just a copy, it really does play and feel like the Gibson, time will tell on this, with any problems, I play mainly rhythm guitar and would say try this out if you do a lot of open chords, the neck is narrow, but I knew this when I tried it out. Example live with Band, kzitem.info/news/bejne/zWp9s3afipeLeoI

The S7 you sent me I play all the time and the H7 is being setup and yes the nut is being sized and cut down properly. I enjoy these guitars a lot. The H7 was heavier than I expected and I would be curious to compare the PuP sound between The HB's and the P90s?

I wonder if one of these axes in the lower price range could be modestly modified / upgraded and fit nicely between the next up new models you mentioned @johnnathancordy ? If so What would the mods be and what would be the best starting point? Sire with..Maybe nut replacement, re-dress / plex frets, etc.).

Here’s my opinion. Upgrades are better on cheaper guitars. You probably won’t GAIN much with upgrades on a sire. Obv you can change things to suit your preferences though. I think sire’s strength is they offer lower-priced quality components that don’t need to be upgraded. But that’s just one player’s opinion 😉

Great video, I'm in the market for a 335 "like" guitar. I have an extra large hand and I can play just about anything but a 1. a thin pattern neck and 2. a skinny neck. What I'd like to know is that a couple of reviewers have stated this guitar has a skinny neck. How would you describe the neck versus a 9.5" radius Fender Strat. Thanks!! Cheers!!!

I am curious - what did you sell, and how much did you get for it? Sorry for the personal question, but resale value is sometimes a factor in making decisions about what guitars to buy. While, the ideal is to buy a guitar for the long term, the reality is that sometimes we end up selling instruments after the honeymoon is over. So any info you can provide would be useful.

Purchased an Sire L7 awhile back and really was blown away by the overall quality you get at the price point of around $600. As John pointed out the bone nut on mine was also bit high. The g string pulled sharp at the lower frets. I had it reworked and setup at a local shop for $75 and now is much better. The excellent playability really is a key point with these guitars. The pups on mine were decent enough and the back of the neck on mine had a satin finish which I love. The heavy (can get sticky) finishes on other brands incl Gibson has always been off putting to me. Cannot say enough that the Sire line really is a bargain for what you get. However as always you should try before you buy, if you can find them in stock at a local shop. But unfortunately that is becoming harder and harder to come by in many locations.

I love everything about the Sire guitars that I've played so far (a few Les Paul shaped and a few semi-hollows). With the exception of one crucial thing. The neck towards the nut is a bit too cramped/narrow for my playing. It kinda bums me out, as they are a great alternative to Epiphones.

You're gonna be happy with it depending in where you purchase it,the problem ones that miss the mark a little bit in quality control are certainly out there for sale.I got one of the first designs with the narrower nut and it's perfect and I have large hands not an issue,I had a real deal Gibson Lucille here when I got it I was working on and mine at least was right there for quality feel I played them back to back a while, this sire is a rocking blues machine that stays in tune better, lol your mileage may vary but I didn't have to do much other than treat the board and polish the frets, they may have started cheaping these out I see the price went way down so not sure but mine is way above any Epiphones I played, like silly to try and compare

@@BeefNEggs057 I apologize for the theatrics. To be fair, the "through the mud" comment was equally dramatic, given the model resurgence and sales figures of the Epiphone brand in recent years.
