As long as they're not pressed to tightly, the tea will open up sufficiently after the first or second steep, though you do need to use adequately hot water, so this does limit the preparations of tea that can be pressed into cakes to those that can withstand water that has just come off a boil. So white tea, black tea, and puerh. Most tea coins or the squares from a break-apart bar also include more tea than you would ordinarily use in a session so even if the puck hasn't opened up completely after the wash, it'll still make a passable first steep and continue to strengthen as it opens up more and more with subsequent infusions.

@@DavidCruickshankI don’t see how being popular means people pronounce the words correctly, like do you pronounce all Japanese words like a native Japanese? I doubt it. And tbf, I think pronouncing every single word in native pronunciation is not a necessity, people need to chill, language is meant to communicate, so as long as you pronounce words close to the original form, and you try, it’s not disrespectful, and I say that as a native Spanish speaker

They probably thought that from the notion of loose leaf being better than teabags without really understanding much about tea and how/why it works. Being pressed into a coin is im assuming just like a tiny cake or even a tuo (if i remember correctly thats how its spelled correct me if im wrong). Probably does take a little more time to open up but it doesn't mean the tea is inferior to any loose tea. Their comment came across a little rude and it makes me a bit sad theyre missing out on a great tea honestly 😢
