My experience with chaga tea... I was living in close quarters with 22 strangers in one house in the snowy winder... sharing rooms, bathrooms, and eating every meal together.. sharing seats, etc. I was drinking chaga tea twice a day every day because i loved the flavor and I knew it boosted the immune system. A flu started to spread thoughout the house and after a week I was the ONLY PERSON who never got the sickness. I attributed this to my chaga tea. Now it is my favorite medicinal mushroom.

I was my Alzheimer Mother’s sole caregiver from age 91 to 95. Her legs from knee to ankle were so swollen they looked like sausages. Her Doctor said it was a side effect of her blood pressure medicine, and that her heart was too weak to pump the blood up through the valves in the blood vessels. Dr said only thing I could do was keep her legs elevated. My Mom did not like to sit with her legs elevated, so I lifted them up on the ottoman many, many times a day. The swelling also made skin tear wounds from the smallest of bumps occur more often (she was demented, but active). Then one day as I was lifting her legs I noticed they were not swollen. In fact they hadn’t been swollen for a couple of weeks. Her shapely dancers’ legs were back! I stood there staring at them wracking my brain for the cause. What has changed? Not her medicine, not her activity, not her diet … oh wait, about two weeks previous I started to add a new item to her morning oatmeal … two tsps. of Chaga Mushroom Powder! The Doctor saw the difference in her legs and asked me what I was doing. I told her about the Chaga mushroom. Dr did not respond. At all. Not even a “hmm”. A couple years later I didn’t order the Chaga in time (Amazon, OM brand), and ran out. I was out for about a week. Sure enough, Mom’s legs swelled back up, and her dementia was worse. Chaga was delivered, and her legs went back down, and her mind seemed to clear. I KNOW Chaga was beneficial for my Mother. I did my own human trial of one. I didn’t know about the blood thinning, however. I was giving her an aspirin every night for that. Guess I could have stopped that.

I love stories like this. I forage for and use chaga and our native reishi. I started foraging to sell and decided I'd better try it myself before selling it to others. It's been about 7-8 years now and I've always wondered if I don't get diagnosed with cancer then how would I know it's because of using chaga and reishi? You can't prove a negative. Stories like this are super interesting. I've been making dual extracts of a half dozen different medicinal mushrooms and started offering them for sale. That way I can be sure the maximum ammount of medicines are extracted. With the growing popularity of chaga I'm a little concerned with so many chaga suppliments and teas being promoted on an industrial scale.

I use chaga in my stews for a few reasons. 1- It darkens the soup naturally. therefore I have great looking beef stew 2- It adds a hint of earth flavour 3- I have never felt bad after eating chaga, so Its cool to know that I may be boosting my health from it Now here is the weird thing. I have not gotten sick for an entire year which is rare for me. (knock on wood it doesnt happen soon) Here is what I have done this year. 1- I consume chaga every once in a while 2- I do not consume soda anymore but occasionally will have a beer 3- I have been taking a probiotic daily 4- I have been taking a multivitamin daily 5- I have incorporated more fruits into my diet 6- I have cut back half on meat and doubled up on vegetables 7- I have been eating super hot spicy foods daily. (May not be good for others though) 8- I use germx every time I go into my car 9- I have been taking cold showers every other day 10- I have actually less excersise now then before but not because I want to, but because my free time has gone down. 11- I have been consuming cocoa powder mixed with water instead of having chocolate milk 12- I have reduced my caffeine intake by not having coffee daily. I am extremely caffeine sensitive and get addicted to it easily. (it doesnt hurt my stomach, but I will get splitting headaches if I miss a day without my caffeine...well I used to till I cut out the majority of coffee.) This was the best video I have seen on Chaga! I just finished brewing my "Healthy Elixer" which is Chaga, Ginger, Lime, Guayusa, and Thyme made into a tea.

You do realize that it's completely impossible to credit any sole reason when you do hundred things at once. I'm almost never sick and up until last year (I'm 25) I ate whatever I wanted. And kept a Ballanced diet. It's completely unnecessary eating vitamins. If you need vitamins you are eating wrongly in the first place. All you need is a good workout, forest walk for the soul and some fruits. You are wasting you money. That or my immune system is far above average.
@Zoltoks
3 жыл бұрын
@@adrianflo6481 I agree that you can't credit any one thing. I have been taking note though because somewhere down the line my body is not as sick as it used to be. I am rarely sick, but just a few years ago this was not the case. I'm just analyzing what is different in my lifestyle now than what was before. Perhaps my body naturally got better at handling sickness, but maybe its just luck? I believe that viatmins can help add to a health regime, but food choices should always be first. That being said it can be hard to track viatmin D, B, Omega, so on so forth. I like to eat foods and see how they affect me. The same goes with my vitamins. I eat an extremely varied diet which I think is good for me.

And I know I should've used them because when I exercised I would get that burning sensation in the upper respiratory tract even with the pumps, it doesn't happen anymore now. I can exercise to my hearts content!

I first had this Chaga as an extract powder in 2012, but by 2015 I got onto brewing the whole fresh ground mushroom. This way works noticeably better, mostly in an increase in immunity, stamina and muscle mass. I feel like Conan the Barbarian on this stuff, and I don't even exercise! For some reason, it also gives me bigger balls for couple days after taking it.

I just came to this video because I purchase a chaga mushroom powder to use for a DIY skincare mask. I have skincare products that are chaga based and they work well on my skin. I wasn't planning to use any in my tea, until I tasted a little of the powder, and to me, it doesn't really taste like anything. So put a teaspoon of it in my hot tea. Then you said it could cause kidney stones. I just dumped my whole cup down the drain. I live with chronic pain, despite being on an EXTREMELY HIGH dose of opiates daily. I don't need the risk of causing myself any more pain, i.e. kidney stones. Thanks for this video.

Thank you for this information, Neurogal! You do a great job explaining to a lay person like myself. Since these things are being retailed now, is there no way the STEM community could support the retail community by crowd sourcing consumer feedback so we could document the human effects of the chaga? Or are clinical trials much too restrictive for a model like this to work? By the way, someone gave me chaga and wild berry tea as a gift... Yum the best tea I've ever had!
@neurogalmd

Thanks for the positive feedback, Sophie! Glad to hear your tea gift was yummy :) - it sounds delicious! Your idea is great - I think there are ways that the STEM community could somehow support research within the community. One way would be through crowdfunded start ups, as you had mentioned, that could organize large randomized, placebo controlled trials. It would take a motivated individual to do it, but I think it is doable.

@@neurogalmd in these types of studies, what perimeters are necessary to be able to accurately make conclusions from the results? Is there a base volume of people that have to be tested in a given population? Is there a minimum time period that chaga would be needed to be consumed for?

Make sure to get a good quality brand of chaga that’s been lab tested. Note - the first day or two of taking chage might cause major digestive problems while your microbiome adjusts, just set aside some time and stay strong for those few days and you’ll see the results very quickly after

What people typically think of the chaga ( Inonotus obliquus ) "mushroom" isn't a mushroom at all. A mushroom is a reproductive construct of the fungal mycelium, or fruiting body, what everyone is drinking is the sclerotium of the mycelium, or compact mycelial mass used to help the fungus store large energy reserves. Now chaga can produce a fruiting body but it is extraordinarily rare. If you ever find chaga on birch tree's never harvest the whole thing as it takes a long time for that mycelial mass to form. Leave some so the fungus can survive, because unlike harveting fruiting bodies over harvesting sclerotium can harm the organism.

Not true at all. Chaga expresses from the inside out. The Chaga is a parasite and it's slowly killing the host tree. Take as much as you need from that tree. It's dying anyway and once dead, the Chaga dies too. I can show you pictures of fruited body of Chaga, blowing out it's spores at end stage of it's life as the host tree entirely dies.

And we will never seen any significant large scale human trials with Chaga because there is no funding for it. And the pharmaceutical industry would try to discourage NIH to fund any such study in Chaga. Big Pharma doesn't need any competition with such a promising drug/mushroom cutting into their profits. And the band played on..

When Pharmaceutical Companies refuse to conduct clinical studies on something that grows wild they will "refuse" to do studies on the ones that they believe WILL BE BENEFICIAL that grows wild because they will eliminate the need for many of their expensive prescription medications. When psilocybin was suggested to help with psychiatric issues they were quick to do studies to prove their negative hallucinogenic effects which they already know aren't present in Chaga. Japan has indeed run many studies on people and since 1970 Japan has used Chaga for several health issues and one being in the treatment for cancer

You need microelements otherwise the chaga wont work. You have to add sea salt. The chaga is an immune modulator. It helps the body turn minerals from sea salt into hormones that carry out functions. It is active in skin and endothelium. It also prevents lactic acid build up in muscles boosting endurance. But if the body is mineral deficient it can cause irritation. Trace mineral gummies should work. Or just add some minerals into chaga tea. Celtic sea salt is a good source or minerals.

I love in northern Ontario where chaga is found scarcely but it’s here. My family goes out late fall and we gather our chaga. We bring it home dehydrate it and I enjoy to grind it for tea. My husband makes a tincture. He has suffered from allergies all his life even stopped breathing as a child from allergies. Since starting chaga he’s hasn’t had any allergies. Myself I suffered from migraines. I started chaga and I haven’t had one since. I get regular headaches but no more migraines. My mother in law suffers from ibs while she takes chaga she has had no issues with her bowels. I don’t know how it works or why it works but speaking from personal experience I know it worked for us. Chaga was the only thing that changed in our diet so we know that it’s from the chaga. When I stopped taking it for blood work I was scheduled to take my migraines came back within a few days of not taking it. Also my family hasn’t gotten flu shots in 12 years and we have never gotten the flu in that same period. I also have less common colds than everyone else. I believe in it and will continue to use it regularly.

So true that it's very difficult to get funding on traditional medicinal herbs or pharmaceuticals for which the patent has expired.
