What's your favourite Churchill quote? Extra points if it's something he actually said and not something a Facebook post claims he said.

I'm not sure if I am distantly related to Winston Churchill, but my 2 or 3x great grandfather was a Churchill that came to America from England in 1852.

@@kandipiatkowski8589 The Duke of Marlborough who fought Louis XIV was John Churchill, and an ancestor of Sir Winston. You might well be descended from him. His father, bu the way, was yet another Winston Churchill.

1:57 of course he was a racist; almost all of high society in England in the early 20th century was racist. They discriminated against the Irish, Scots, Welsh, Cornish... and that's without going outside their own country, so it only stands to reason that they would discriminate against foreigners, and even stronger if they looked "funny". While we think of South Africa when we say "apartheid" (and SA belonged to the UK when Churchill was in power), many of its traits were the norm in all british colonies and settlements. And that timeframe also coincided with the auge of eugenetics. Now the question is if he was racist because that's how he was brought up or if he was racist because of his own beliefs.

@@lordjazoijua94 yeah, but that's mostly classism, not racism (although there was a weird movement to turn it into perceived racism by falsely setting percentages of Norman and Anglosaxon lineages).
