When it comes to finances, please do not stick your head in the sand to hide like an ostrich. Often when I begin a seminar or discussion around money, people share that they relate to the ostrich reference. They would much prefer to put their heads in the sand when the subjects of finance, retirement, insurance, income generating property, investment allocation, pension plans, and business insurance arise for discussion. For most, it’s easier to avoid money conversations. It feels too scary.
Is this you? It does not have to be hair-raising. I see money as a tool-a tool that is fully adaptable. Money provides opportunities and experiences in which you can squeeze the juice out of life. The best advice I can give you if you’re an ostrich is to find a financial collaborator with whom you can discuss your aspirations, assets, and worries and who you believe can assist you in your journey.
Pulled from the pages of “Squeeze the Juice: Live with Purpose, then Leave a Legacy,” the Modern-Wealth series explores the most important topics and themes from retirement planning to the ease of financial planning to writing your family love letter.
The intention and hope are that these small nuggets of information may build on the work that you’re already doing to plan, give you an easily-digestible, non-overwhelming overview of financial planning, or perhaps they may spark an urgency to start getting your financial ducks in a row. It’s never too early to start preparing for the future!
