Thanks for starting the discussion on this, doctor! A lot of videos on the platform, while informative, tend to come solely from a nutritional perspective (i.e. nutritional scientists, athletes, or personal trainers) or from the perspective of coursework (i.e. videos designed to help people study for exams). I think you're one of the few people on the platform who can effectively tie together both the nutritional/athletic discussion of proteins to the didactic discussion of proteins.

Thank you for watching! I think being a connection between the application and the science would be a good place for me to sit. I try to give science (though not get caught up in details), but also the context of why it matters. I certainly have some room to improve but I am glad you got something from it. 🤙

@@CuttotheBone Definitely, I found it pretty thought provoking! Actually, as a follow-up, I was wondering: do you happen to notice that patients who consume a specific diet or supplement tend to bounce back faster after surgeries (maybe a video idea)?

@@arjanbains3682I have not noticed anything about specific diets, but admittedly it’s not something I get into very deeply with patients unless there is something obvious. There a few common generalized nutrition issues that come up. Sometimes an elderly person can have noticeable sarcopenia or some basic chemistry labs that show they are malnourished. Also, uncontrolled diabetics are often nutritionally a mess. Both of these patient populations do worse. Every once in a while there are patients you suspect have eating disorders like anorexia, which is important to note as well.
