Bob, your recovery is an inspiration. The recovery of your speech is awesome. My aunt just had a stroke (different issue to yours) but her speech is affected and I swear showing her your clips is giving her hope and saving her from sinking into depression. I'm also showing her clips of how Grandma Walton (Ellen Corby) soldiered on when she had her stroke back in the '70s, during The Waltons' run.

You need vitamin k2 to direct calcium into the teeth and bones instead of your heart arteries and other organs! Grass fed and grass finished beef, grass fed cream, grass fed butter, all which have vitamin K2. Green leafy veggies have vitamin K1 which is different but rich in calcium but without K2, calcium will wind up in your organs! As for exercise, strength resistance training for your muscles and bones! This one case where if you don’t use it, you will lose it! I hang daily from the pull-up bar for one minute at a time,m2x daily for grip strength and posture. Important is working those hip flexors and other core exercises. I am 74 years of age and am at my optimal weight of 150 for five years now, after having lost 65 lbs of fat! I am at 11% body fat!

I'm sorry to hear about Bob's diagnosis ... A lifetime ago I was married to a man (now deceased) who had 2 brothers who were afflicted with Friedrich's Ataxia (both are also deceased) ... Apparently this is a genetic disease that requires both parents to have the gene in order for the condition to manifest ... When they were alive, the internet was not what it is today, so I can only suggest that he read up on his condition as much as possible ... It's been my real life experience that doctors are not always aware of the latest and greatest treatments out there that can help, and I absolutely cringe when they ask you "Do you have any questions?" Sometimes you just don't know what to ask! Doctors should be the educators and providing information to the patient instead of making you fish for it!! The disease affects everyone differently and I am praying that there's some clinical trial that maybe he can participate in to curb the progression for as long as possible. The earlier you get treatment the better -- clinical trials are all about high success rates. God bless and very best wishes 💙

If vitamin k2 with D3 (D3/k2) and magnesium (malate), it will keep calcium where it belongs and slow or prevent shrinking or Sarcopenia. If it's extreme, taking amino acids will give the building blocks if you are unable to eat. I am still 5'6" and 53 yrs, admittedly do yoga daily but nutrition is the building blocks for everything. Been off and on primarily vegan since 1982, just no cow or pig foods, and vegan since 2005. I learned by observing my dad and mom's food choices resulting in deseases, mostly angina/afib and RA and wanted no part of it. My vegan meals are delicious and balanced...I just eat too much...lol I do have a pull up bar from which I decompress, so zoom weights, kb, mobility & balance 3x a week and OTF the rest. I shrunk over an inch in less than four months. My overall shrinkage in the last two years has been over three inches. I used to be 5'10" and now I'm only 5'7". I have 34" legs and if I keep shrinking at this rate, I'm going to look pretty funny... Real long legs with a real short torso. That will look kind of goofy, if you ask me. My lumbar part of my spine is wrapped with arthritis so the vertebrae don't move separately like they were designed to do. The arthritis has fused that part of my spine together and has limited my ability to turn from side to side or to look behind me. I have to turn my entire body to do that. There are days where I know I have actually shrunk because when I stand in front of the kitchen sink my brain notices it's closer to me than it was yesterday. I also feel shorter when it comes to my brain judging how far above the floor I stand.. My brain notices the floor is closer to me. Those days used to be far and few between but lately I have the feeling of being noticably shorter several days a week. My paternal grandmother lost 6" before she passed away and had a hunch back so bad the top of her head was lower than her back. I imagine I'm going to have to live with alot of back pain in my golden years. I'm 59 now and am not looking forward to my sixties and seventies because of it as the pain increases more and more as I age. Puts a real downer on aging for me.
