I am so glad I found this channel! Very helpful. I have had 3 minpins all rescues, Made every mistake in the book with my 1st. 2nd one came when we were not looking, I just could not leave him when I saw how neglected he was. Took over 4 months before he ever had light in his eyes. The first 2 were black and tan, the one I have now is chocolate and rust. MoJo is a lot bigger than my first 2. They were 1O lbs and 7 lbs. MoJo is 21 lbs. They are a difficult breed because they are so independant and intelligent but I would not trade that for anything. My favorite breed, I adore them.

Why do your Min Pins have docked tails? This is animal cruelty.

Yes. We adhere to a schedule. I follow the AKC guidelines. Basically, it’s wake up and potty 6:30 am- 8 am breakfast- Play, train, play, nap. 2 pm lunch- play,train,play,nap and 8 pm dinner, play,train, quiet play. 11:45 pm- last potty call 12:00 am sleep Being on schedule definitely helps. We are using the pupford academy app. I use it by number of classes, not days. We follow our puppy’s pace.

That looks like a great schedule. Can't go wrong with the AKC!

Please Please help me. I took a 6 month min pin from my daughter because she had 4 other dogs and couldn't handle him. I'm trying to train him right, but having trouble getting him to stop chewing on everything and biting me.

My grandkids make it hard to train him because he is focused on what they do. He has different things to chew on

I watched a famous Australian horse trainer work with 3 year olds for over 8 hours. Those poor animals were so confused and exhausted after the "training". 30 minutes is about as much as a 3 year old can handle. Long training sessions can easily undo the good work you've already put in.

Enjoying these informative videos! I recently found a 3 yr old male min pin abandoned in a Forrest! Buddy Biscuits was decently trained (except for walking) and has a great temperament! Are there different methods for dogs that have had partial conditioning from a previous owner? Luckily, i had implemented some of these methods prior to research or discovering your channel

Thanks for watching and Subscribing. I would advise you to do your best to separate out the good "behaviors' from the previous owner and what needs to be corrected. The adage you can't teach a old dogs new tricks is not really true. I would still make sure to hyper focus on one behavior at a time.

I like to feed my min Pin 2 times a day so instead of feeding her breakfast/dinner in her bowl i can feed her while training and then around twelve PM I can train her with treats instead,

I do have a question: besides a nylabone and a long, what type of bone or antlers should I purchase my for my puppy who is a active chewer? He’s 14 weeks old. Any suggestions?
@MinPinNation

I recommend the Bully Chews as they tend to be for big chewers.

They are hard to train if you think they are. Yes, they are not as obedient as other dogs, but that’s what makes them so much fun! We used a static collar for the barking. It would give a small zap to redirect him. I even tried it on myself. It’s just a slight startle. We have a lot of dogs that bark in our neighborhood. You can desensitize them with sound,

Love your vids, I'm getting a minpin in December. As for the scheduled training/feeding/excercise, will it work even if my schedule changes every 2 months?
@MinPinNation

Yes it will just keep it consistent for you. It matters more on frequency then the actual times.
