On my last trip I only passed through on 17 but it did look like someplace worth exploring! Hopefully next time.

There's a new swanky hotel to stay in for your visit. It's called The George and it's by the waterfront. Next to many great shops and restaurants.

I think they're doing a great job of preserving the best from the past and remembering from where the town has been while being open to welcoming new flavors of charm. Like The George Hotel opening in late fall!! Have you seen it? It's going to be GORGEOUS!!

You obviously have no clue about the history of Georgetown please stop spreading misinformation. When you said the steel mill you showed footage of international paper. Also when you talked about indigo you showed footage of a wisteria plant. Do better research before putting “ informational “ videos online.

Zachary, you are absolutely correct, that is not an Indigo plant and I should note that in the description above. And we did our filming at Harborwalk and Kaminski House area so both International Paper and Liberty Steel are nearby. Since this video was done, an Australian company has purchased the steel mill. My sincere apologies and thank you for bringing this to my attention.

You missed out on a highlight of Georgetown, The Georgetown Art Gallery. Just down from the Clock Tower it is South Carolina s oldest Art Gallery. It’s a 20 artists co-op and has been there for many years.

@dorothyellis2312 Oh, I would have absolutely loved to have included! That video was getting mighty long! But, art is another great way to capture the history and landscape of an area! Thanks for mentioning it here!

Very interesting. Never thought rice was the crop. I love rice. My mother served it every meal, even breakfast. We were poor in Mississippi🤫

Always wanted to visit the waterfront shops but am very wary of the awful smell from the mills.

Just check the weather - if winds are out of the south traveling north, you'll probably get a whiff of paper mill perfume. If not, you're good to go. It's too beautiful not to go visit!

Is this a flood area. Do you need flood insurance
@CarolinaCoastTV
Күн бұрын
@emcinc9654 there are definitely areas of Georgetown that require flood insurance (FEMA designated flood zone AE). However, you'd be surprised how many options you can find in which flood insurance isn't required (FEMA flood zone X), but I still HIGHLY RECOMMEND) you get it. When it's not required, it's not that expensive per year and totally worth your peace of mind!

I would forget the Shops and preserve and embrace that Steel Mill.. We cant keep relying on Indian and Chinese steel that have no comparable quality. America used to produce some of the best steel in the world at one point. We cant keep closing down these masterpieces of American ingenuity..

People should stop thinking of mass development as a "boost" for the economy. People should preserve their land and learn agriculture. SC was the richest state in the country pre industrial revolution.

The main reason people want to get rid of International Paper, is because the place stinks. Also you mention how far Georgetown was from Conway, Pawleys Island and Charleston, but you forgot to mention how far from Myrtle Beach. Otherwise video 's great. Look forward to visiting Georgetown.

Hi, David. Thank you for your comments. While many definitely have the opinion the paper mill "stinks" several hundred call that the sweet smell of their paycheck, which in turn, keeps Georgetown's economy humming! Didn't really "forget" Myrtle Beach, I just said how far away it was from the next towns on the routes most utilized in and out of Georgetown - Hwy 17 North (closest town is Pawleys, but Myrtle proper is another 30-45), 17 South takes you to Charleston and 701 takes you to Conway. Thank you for watching and hope you love Georgetown! So much to do and there's a new hotel opening up very soon!!

Do the workers get food pay? Or is it just the man upstairs profiteering?
