@@ZZubZZero Once again, if there was really no difference, they would tell both chocolates are sweeter randomly, almost all the subjects said taht the round one was sweeter, so it indicates that there's something. And, once again, that had already been observed on a large population with no questions asked. I don't know if his hypothesis of the form theory is right, honestly I doubt it, but it's undeniable that there's something in a round chocolate that makes it sweeter. Personally, I think it's more about how it melts and feels in the mouth, it feels more plausible than a psychological bias about forms ^^'

Sorry but you are either wrong or being confused here. The colour literally changed as well. There is more of a sickly aftertaste now. Some products are still made in UK with the original recipe, like Flake amd Fredo. Buttons used to be too until like a year ago. It was to cut costs and bring more similar to american chocolate. Just because the listed ingredients is the same, (which i acc doubt), doesnt mean the quantities and processes arent different.
@nezzee

Processes can change that can dramatically change the final product, along with sources/quality of said ingredients, etc. If all you needed were the same list of ingredients to duplicate a flavor, you wouldn't have companies keeping their "recipes" top secret, even though they are legally required to list all of the ingredients they put into said food items by the FDA. He should cut both the pieces into similar sized/shaped cubes and do a blind test (no visible cue either) and see if people still think they are the "same chocolate".

Texture and shape does affect sweetness, since the more surface area there is between your tongue and the chocolate, the stronger all of the tastes will be. You can try this by for example eating a sugar cube (low surface area) vs melting it and eating the syrup (high surface area).

I think it's because of the amount of each slice/serving portion that you take and what makes it feel sweeter or less sweet.
