Further, speaking about there's nothing in the Constitution which says that a person can't object to something they see in the Public Library, there is something in the meaning of the Constitution which says that that no one person, including a governor, has the right to have books removed from the shelves because he wants to have them removed. That is autotocracy and we know that there's no place in our Constitution which says it's okay to contradict it in any way by being an autocrat like DeSantis. This is a Democracy, not an autocracy, where majority rule is Constitutionally protected, enforcement neglected, the only reason DeSantis hasn't long since been overruled. But he will be because banning the books is anti-Constitutional, anti-American.

And if... gay parents will take their (adopted) children to the gay section, will heterosexual parents stay on the "traditional" side? It is therefore the concern of the ENTIRE community to ensure that the children in public schools are educated well while at the same time ensuring that the rights of the parents are respected and the children are not exposed to adult concepts before it is age appropriate for them to learn about them. At no point is it appropriate to have pornographic materials, books containing sexually explicit materials or that offer sexual instruction, to minor children. At no point is it appropriate or good for the community for the schools, teachers or other staff to tell kids to keep secrets from their parents or not tell their parents what they are being taught. Such things will effect the community as a whole. I am beyond glad that my children are not in school now, that they graduated a couple of decades ago before this nonsense was so prevalent. That does not mean I should no longer have a say in how my tax dollars are spent or in what our schools are teaching the children within my community today. I am greatly concerned at what children are being taught such that they must keep it secret from their parents and why the left seems so intent on forcing it on our kids while trying to silence parents who have very valid concerns. Librarians and teachers are trained to serve children's and young adult's interests and recommend age appropriate reading material. You might not want your child to read Gender Queer, but another parent might not want them to read the bible. Should both books be made unavailable at the library then? And speaking of which: just because something is on the shelf does not mean it is put into children's hands. This is not an issue about public access and I would argue, this is not even about children at all. Every parent can control their child's individual library use by accompanying them to the library and approving their reading material. However, a single parent or even group of parents cannot and should not dictate what all children have access to in a school or public library.

@@ericdailey8587 "If a book is not suitable for a school library, why would it be suitable for a public library?" - Well, because a school library's user group are students (children, young adults) and a public library's user group is the general public aka everybody. "Those books are for sale and a patron can always purchase those books if they are not in the public library." Whichever books you are referring to does not even matter here but the purpose of a public library is to give the general public access to resources. Most public libraries are free and therefore accessible to everyone, no matter their financial situation. So, no, it is not okay to ban books from public libraries that individual people take offense with based on religious beliefs or a conservative worldview. What if librarians would tell you: if you don't like the library, you can always go to a bookshop instead. That would probably upset you, so maybe you should try seeing the other side of your argument.

I think you need to accept that if you want to live as part of a community, you have to pay taxes. If you do not like how your taxes are used, you need to vote smarter. As a citizen, you vote to give someone else the power to make decisions such as where to allocate tax money. Do you really think everyone would hand over the same amount of money they currently spent in taxes to worthy causes - and not just worthy but frankly boring causes like road maintenance - if they had a choice? And would that even work? How would you know where money was needed and which organizations were corrupt? Who has got the time for all that research? If you want to make a difference, there are a lot of issues that could use your attention - such as climate change.

Our local library had a children’s section and then the ‘regular’ section which was okay for everyone, but boring to the children; and THEN a 2nd Floor where children were not allowed for adult reading materials. ( I don’t know what was up there because I was a kid). A public school for children is not open to the public, and is not a public library. The SMUT doesn’t have to be censored from adults, CHILDREN should be banned from that filth!

Generally speaking, you want parents to have a say in what is taught because they have more experience of making a living outside of school. The academics and theorists just don't have that experience so it gets a bit like schoolkids being taught by bigger schoolkids. In the end you get a situation like here in the UK where they seem to think kids go to school to learn to cross dress and be turned into dysfunctional lunatics. USA and Canada also it seems. Parent power could have averted such nonsense if it had been realised sooner. So I agree: more power to parents and less to impractical academics. Speak out and fight back.

Please explain how parents have more living experience outside of school than teachers and academics? Teachers and academics are also people, which means they might have had a different profession before teaching, they might have travelled the world, they might have a family of their own and therefore are parents themselves. How are teachers "bigger schoolkids" but parents are not "bigger kids who have kids"? Teachers at least went to university, which taught them critical thinking and exposed them to a wide variety of people of different genders, religious beliefs, nationalities, etc. That experience creates a much broader outlook on life. Most teachers have also moved around within their state or between states, which again creates a more varied outlook on life. So, let's be real here: teachers are professionals, librarians are professionals. Parents are simply people who have children. No degree, no certificate, no critical thinking required. Society is changing and you might not like that but teachers have to prepare children for the real world, in which they will encounter people of different nationalities, skin colors, and yes, genders and sexual orietations. In order for everyone to live peacefully together in a society, you have to learn what life is like for people who are different from you and books are a great way to teach about that life experience.

@@angeliqueazul8670 Parents are the parents. Usually, they want the very best for their child. Many, many parents have been to college. Universities have taught the past couple of generations of both parents and teachers the neo-Marxist theories that are designed to separate kids from their parents. This allows the government to brainwash the kids into their dangerous doctrine. This is one major way they take away the will and rights of people, who will eventually be fully indoctrinated into being happy ruled by a commie dictator. Those of us who actually learned about the history of, or lived through the genocide those dictators caused know this. Today's the so-called educated younger adults, have been taught CRT, trans theory, a guilt for being an American, and anti-capitalism.
