I like your videos man. Maybe do a series of like "common bike maintenance" like setting the slack of the chain, changing the oil etc... Also why not GSXR front-end on the SV? Cheers

I like the idea! I race the bike under minitwin rules where you are not allowed to change forks!

Try a jack up kit rather than a new shock if you shorten the dog bones on the shock it jacks the rear up or pull the forks up the yoke a few mill

The problem with jack up kits is You change the leverage ratio which can cause havoc! I have ground clearance issue if I go any lower on the fork height🤦

Ever thought about using telemetry gear to help set up the suspension, mahne with some pro guidance? I have done this with mountain bikes and thought it was well worth the money

Yes, have used data logging with other riders before, but as always, its very expensive and it cant tell you how to gain the 5 seconds a lap I'm loosing due to rider error!

Looked good to me mate. Do you find you prefer turning one direction over the other ? For instance, for some reason I always prefer leaning left, as it just feels more comfortable and I feel more connected with the bike. I just don’t know what it is with leaning right - but it’s something I’m working on. 😅

I feel I can turn right better! 😂😂ok on left be just feels different!

not really! but as most circuits in the UK are clockwise turning right is the most import of the two!

Could you not drop the yokes down the forks to put a touch more weight over the front?

Why not get some track tuition this is free with no limits. I had a couple of sessions with dean ellison at lydden hill and my lap improved significantly 👍👍

Hey Mike, if I’m not mistaken your sv650 is of the first gen with carburettors. How is their maintenance? Are they temperamental? I have stumbled upon a good deal for a gen 1 sv650 that I’d like to track as well, can a beginner mechanic handle it?

If it helps answer your question - my 1998 Suzuki gsx600f is on original carbs. I like them and have had no issues. I’ve owned the bike for nearly one year. I use premium grade fuel, every now and again at fill up I use redex petrol treatment. I’ve done new plugs, oil and filter. I use the choke to start it, and it starts usually first time! If the bike has not been started for two weeks or longer, I find the bike needs a bit of help starting (I spray some easy start aerosol into the air box) and it fires up straight away. To summarise, I think carbs are not to be feared - unless you have issues that you suspect are the carbs, then my personal opinion is I’d get a techy to look it over. Can be a bit complicated to dismantle / setup if required.

They are pretty reliable yes! I clean and balance the carbs once a year before the track/race season starts and they don't touch them for the rest of the year! They are a great little trackbike.
