Nice job! I agree that pinpoint stance could be problematic because the more you have to do the greater chance for error. Keep it simple with the platform stance but as you said key is to drive with both feet. Thanks!

As someone who transitioned from platform to pinpoint; I definitely think platform is still better for most rec players since there's less going on. In terms of power though I feel like moving into the court with the pinpoint and drawing more power from the upper body chains (whereas in my exp the plat draws more from the hips and legs) makes it more powerful than y'all let on.

Cody Nelson solid insights and we agree platform is predominantly the preferred method for recreational players due to its simplicity and improved balance / loading of the legs. The Pinpoint can definitely deliver a ton of power, in fact the biggest serves in the world are predominately pinpoint. We simply didn’t endorse its power at the rec level because it is often times performed incorrectly causing the player to lift with one leg creating a hitch n timing and poor power. Hope this clarifies things a bit. Thanks for watching and the feedback!

Hi~ I had an achilles surgery on my left foot a year ago and I am starting to get back to playing tennis again. I’ve noticed that my serve has gotten slower using pivot stand. Can you suggest how I can serve powerfully with more right foot pushing off? Thanks!
@Playyourcourt

Hi Frank, sorry to hear about the injury. I would definitely try a platform stance, that will help you load the right foot and protect the front foot. Hope this helps, thanks for watching!

Is there a relation to regular or goofy in board sports and preference of platform vs pinpoint?
@Playyourcourt

Hi Adley, if your right handed your platform stance would be considered regular in the surfing / snowboarding world, where as a lefty server would be goofy. Platform and pinpoint really comes down to personal preference. Personally I'm a fan of pinpoint but I regularly teach students platform

Serena, Isner, Kyrgios. Wow, think if they did it your way. They might have good serves. Neither platform or pinpoint is inherently better or worse. You just need to experiment and find which works better for you.

I'm a pinpoint server, but whenever my toss starts to wander, I temporarily revert to platform, to get it back under control. I think the challenge with pinpoint is to avoid sliding the rear foot into the forward position until just before the toss has reached grapefruit height and minimum upward velocity. If you look at Sampras's rear foot, it plays almost no role in powering his stroke, and he rarely broke 130 mph. However, you never saw him throw a second toss, and he was consistently able to paint the lines.

+Jacksonlar Sampras was the king of serving! It may not look like it but Pete’s back leg contributed to a ton of his pop. He loaded the rear leg and back hip giving him tremendous force up to the ball. We agree the pinpoint can make the toss difficult at times. Thanks for watching my man! 🙏🏻🤙🏼

Sampras serve was not reliant on speed but the action on the ball. That thing looks and sounds heavy!

The pinpoint stance has certainly become the norm on the tour that's for sure. It can be very effective when practiced consistently. The timing issues with irregular play can make it difficult for recreational players though. Ultimately the stance we use is simply personal preference. Thanks for watching Paul!

@@Playyourcourt Thanks for the response. I say the same for the so called ATP forehand as well. It's so timing dependent that unless you're playing 4 times a week, it's difficult to hit that consistently. It's boggles me that just about every yt coach is trying to turn weekend hackers into pros. Most people are not fit enough and athletic enough to get into positions to hit those shots.
