I literally just picked one of these up this week cheap all working and original, just needs new side art. Never had heard or played it before i got it. Main game is short but fun, play side mission games first before main makes it way longer and you need to anyway to get ammunition to defeat the end queen. Very Unusual. Great addition to any collection. And its rare where i live in the UK.

That’s awesome! Yeah it’s a cool machine. I’m actually working on the marquee light now and ordered a new 6x9 speaker for mine. I never really played much of this either so it was cool to grab the game. Interesting how it’s broken out into the main game and the training missions at the start.

House of the Dead 2 I have a ton of nostalgia for... and not because I played it in the arcade. When the Dreamcast was released, I had my first good paying job, I was single and still living at home so I was just rolling in disposable income. When I pre-ordered the Dreamcast, I went balls deep buying stuff for it... and stuff I didn't think I would have even considered buying on a severely limited income. So I got House of the Dead 2 and two of the premium light guns one weekend for funzies and I fell in love with it... The graphics looked so good... nothing in my wildest dreams as a kid would I think this much arcade accuracy would be in my living room on my TV.. Being a kid who grew up from Atari 2600, this was just unimaginable outside of simply owning an arcade machine. This was the first time a home console made me feel like... "This is the future". The Dreamcast and its "arcade quality in a home system" focus... was in my opinion the final nail the coffin in the death of coin op Arcades everywhere. Cabinets were getting expensive for operator/owners, players were playing much more narrow variety of games (mostly fighting games) and EVERYTHING was $.50 a play as a result. Not only that, but anything you would play in the Arcade would get a home release in less than a year, and as soon as you could play it at home... the Arcade machine was useless. As a consumer... how could you not justify buying a $199.99 Dreamcast and any of it's arcade releases? Anyway... loved House of the Dead 2... I loved the branching paths and how corny the story and voice acting was. It was a blast to play with friends. Its great you are really fleshing out he "variety" aspect of your basement arcade. Is there any category of arcade you feel you don't have that you need? A pinball machine perhaps?

I still have my HotD2 copy for DC as well! I bought the Madcatz gun for it. Similarly, Hydrothunder was the game I bought day one with my DC. I loved that all these near arcade perfect ports were coming home. That was pretty much the single reason I bought a DC.

I chuckled when you brought up Leather Enforcers on the Sega CD because I remember owning it on the Genesis and the graphics weren't nearly as good as the Sega CD but I still enjoyed it as the essence of the game was all there. The space is key for sure. Even in my old townhouse though I was able to squeeze the two candy cabs and the Neo Geo in. I never would have had the space I do now to work on things though. A big selling point of the new place Im in was the unfinished basement. I just saw the potential to be able to work on and have machines down there. What are some arcades you would want... simply for the tracks it would add to your Arcade's collective "Attract Mode" if you will. Games you would never invest in, or are super low priority... but the sound you would hear 2-3 stores away indicating you were about to walk up on an Arcade at a mall. For me it would be Sinistar. Hearing the roars and "I Hunger" just bring me back. That and maybe Punch Out!! Hearing.... "BODY BLOW, BODY BLOW" "UPPER CUT", "KNOCK HIM OUT!"

I really liked the Fish Tales pin. “Hoow Big Waz It!?” I’m not sure why that’s an ear worm for me but it definitely is. I have the table on Steam and will occasionally just load it up and play. It’s not the same as a physical table of course, but the audio still soothes my soul.

Sadly the most expensive part is the SATA to IDE adapter. Some of them are junk and it seems only the Startech one works (kudos to @retrolabs for experimenting with those). That part is $18 and a cheap SSD is $15. I dropped a near silent Noctua fan on this too which was another $15. So nearly $50 until it was all done.
