Aretha Franklin was a prime exam of what it means to reach the pinnacles of success. She began at a very young age, as a gospel singer. She never deviated from her gospel training and roots. I can't think of any songs she sang where her gospel roots are present. She showed the world that if the audience applauds your entrance with as much fervor as they do at the conclusion of your performance, you have to ne authentic. You have to be genuine. Many if not most black singers, began singing in the church. They make the mistake of abandoning their gospel roots. Aretha never did. Rest in eternal peace Ms Franklin

OMG. I saw her in concert at The Circle Star Theater in San Carlos, CA when I was 15 years old. I watched as her magnificent artistry brought grown men to tears. From age 8, my parents bought every album she released. Chris Cuomo on his CNN show on the eve of her passing said something so profound. He said "if you dont believe in God, thats your prerogative. But how could anyone hear Aretha sing and not know there must be a God"? Soon after her passing, NPR radio aired an interview Aretha did with Terry Gross. At the conclusion of the interview, Terry said of Aretha, "she's the greatest singer of the 20th and 21st century, and perhaps one of the greatest of all time. We miss you Aretha. Rest in eternal peace

Ok so we know when Aretha entered any stage she wore a hella-gorgeous fur she eventually flicks to the ground cause she know she killin the song by then...check...then she rocks a diamond-encrusted clutch and fire level dress...check...then she str8 murdered the song with soul-stirring, goose-bump worthy perfection...check...then she ended with a riveting crescendo that fell to death tones of amazement...check...then she delivered her infamous curtsy "I'm -a-lady-damnit" classy final bow...check...then the Queen exits stage left knowing she simply slayed once again...check...can we say ALL HAIL THE QUEEN!!! Rip beautiful Ms. Franklin...

Two things I’ve learned about this legend after watch the video of her perform ‘Natural Woman’ at the Kennedy Center and this: 1. If she wears a fur… it’s coming off… rightfully so lol 2. Once it comes off however, be prepared for a whole new level of performing. It’s like the coat dropping off unlocks a new level of vocal mastery and I LOVE IT. ❤️

Aretha brings it on to ANY song in her own way. She's also the only person on Earth I forgive for wearing real animal fur. She's too formidable to say no to!
@mariewilliams4290
5 жыл бұрын
Not sure if this is an excuse for the fur, but.... It was reported by a close friend that worked for Aretha on CNN that Miss Franklin was very protective of her voice and didn't perform in air conditioned venues. Before entering the room or stage ,Aretha would stick her arm in the crack of a opened door. If she felt A.C., she wouldn't go in until it was cut off. One talk show host said ' I guess we can sweat for a while to hear Aretha sing.'So , maybe the fur coats helped keep her warm. Just my thoughts.

She looked absolutely ethereal here, especially with the way her dress flows in the wind. I'd like to imagine this Aretha being the one singing in the heavenly choir.
