Great review bro. I love my Grizzly and dont have to worry about going uphill and no range anxiety. Rode with Bomber Marv and Matt the mechanic over at Lewes Delaware and we did 60 miles with occasional pedal assist but mostly throttle and riding thru the sand and in the end, still got 47v left which is around 30%. Great bike. That was an excellent review bro. Strap that backpack on the rear rack so less strain on your back.

Nylon with friction will break off with time getting dryer and more friable... As a bowling mechanic we using them as flange to support pin and ball wheel. I believe the nylon will be good long enough to equal these motors time life. Nylon also much more quiet.

For my grizzley, I took a TV surley tray, get some bolts, drilled some holes, and then got some dowels, cut them down, epoxy to the tray to put my turn signals, back remote camera. Yes it really works. I love myv2. I mainly use the back motor. Wore out the stock tires, and put on Kenda krusaders on the bike. I love the way it screams up the hill on my commute. I've pushed it to 32 mph.but generally 25 26 mph is fast enough for me

I prefer the nylon gears. Metal gears can be loud.Ariel rider is now using bafang motors and is probably why they are now nylon gears which bafang uses.

@Elisplushies360woodierc

@@amatureskater15 But here’s the thing.Inside the motor that those metal gears mesh to are metal also.So in the long run it’s best to replace those nylon gears when needed instead of a complete motor.The metal teeth inside that motor will wear out a lot faster with metal teeth meshing up to them rather than nylon.It’s not hard at all to replace those nylon gears when needed.There are a vids on KZitem showing this.
@amatureskater15

@@Elisplushies360woodierc its amazing....metal gears work wonders in the rear ends of all trucks/suv's 😉. I understand your point. Its quieter to have nylon. But they are weaker and will botnhold up as well under extreme stress. That being said... Metal gears require gear oil and can be clunky and loud.
@Elisplushies360woodierc
2 жыл бұрын
@@amatureskater15 I hear ya but the automotive industry is a whole different playing field than ebikes.lol.The metals they use are stronger and tolerances tighter.If lots of people start blowing out nylon gears on their ebikes I’m sure the companies would responds to up their products and start using metal.But I haven’t heard of anything like that happening.For ebikes nylon is just fine and plenty durable and it’s self lubricating.So I think it’s a good move for Ariel rider to use bafang motors now.Bafangs have been plenty reliable.There are also gearless motors for higher applications.

Just a tip. I noticed your wheel is set at 22. Possibly, it should be set at 24. That's the rim (20) plus the tire (4) Actually you are going faster than you think :-) Also, you might consider setting the speed at 39. That will make the throttle a little smoother. Best!

Great video! In-depth testing that does not drag out is perfect! Regarding the gears, I don't think the metal/nylon/metal design was a big problem except when the motor is exposed to extreme temperature changes. The materials expand and contract at different rates, and when the limits are reached, the materials delaminate and you get a nylon gear with metal spinners! My motor peaks at 3000 watts and has nylon gears, and I've had no issues, BUT, I don't intentionally abuse them... much, lol. Thanks for the great show, hope to ride with you again soon 🔥🔥

You can change pedal assist from 1 thru 6 to 1 thru 9 it has 9 assist.The metal gear change is a supply issue also cost cutting.That nylon used for the gears is thermal nylon,(thermoplastic)designed to take high heat.It’s a lightweight material that’s been used in electrical motor for quite awhile now.It would be odd that now there’s an issue with expansion.DuPont designed nylon and patented it in 1935, marketing it in 1939.

I just can't see paying $3000-$4000 for an Ebike that barely out performs my Meepo mini 2 ER. I really like the AR Griz, but I still don't own an Ebike. I can buy a Honda Grom for less than that. The Lectric may top out at 28 mph but it take longer for it to get there.The grizzly and Ariel rider xclass 52 can get to 20 mph in about 4-5 seconds and the Lectric xp will take about 10-11 seconds.Most class 3 ebikes will do about 28 mph. It’s the torque and power you want for acceleration and getting you up those hills with ease.As for the grom it true they go for about 3500$ new but otd price will be close to 5000$ then you’ll have to register it once a year and insure it plus you’ll need a motorcycle license. A Honda ruckus or a 50cc scooter is more comparable to this grizzly.Ove ridden both and something about ebikes that are more fun. You can ride on a sidewalk if needed and cut through grassy parks,no gas or oil changes ever.

Your controller is limiting the amps going to your motor you NEED A HIGHER AMP CONTROLLER like a Savatron 80 or 100 amp controller - but one not over your battery BMS capacity but watch out pushing that many amps thru your motor you might melt your motor. you might have to get a bigger higher amp capable motor.

That was in No way deep beach sand. I took mine on Cape Cod deep sand with 10psi in the tires and it sunk like a brick. Two-wheel drive Only works on dry pavement. Uphill on wet pavement and the front tire just spins and you lose control. A Real size person sits so far back that the front tire has no weight so bad traction. A dangerous lack of traction. The adjustment rings on the rear shocks are just for ride height. You have to add air to stiffen the ride. When you apply the brakes, the throttle is disconnected. You have to release the brake to use the throttle.

Nice review! Any tips on bike insurance? State farm just dropped my coverage bc they looked up my zooz and said it does 33 so it had to be covered as a motorcycle. The motorcycle coverage only covers it if it is tagged as a motorcycle. Homeowners only covers bikes with a top CAPABILITY of 20 mph even if display limited. Essentially they do not pay out on any ebike if that is the standard.

I am in the market for an E-Bike as a commuter vehicle for work, 8 mile round trip so no worries. Question i have which haven't really seen addressed is weather conditions. With all the on board electronics how does all this fair in a heavy rain?? do those batteries need to be covered and what steps should we take after arriving home from a heavy rain ride??
@carriebartkowiak
2 жыл бұрын
This bike is serious overkill for a 4-mile ride one way. You could do that ride just as fast on a Lectric 2.0 and save thousands of $$. (The Lectric doesn't have the same top speed at the Grizzly, but in 4 miles your chance to actually get up to the Grizzly's top speed is going to be close to nill.) E-bikes are fine for riding in the rain. Their electronics are all sealed and waterproof. Just don't completely submerge the bike, and don't go through standing water that's deep enough to submerge your controller. When you get home just towel them off, or park them in front of a fan.

The reason I went with the Grizzly is I'm 6'4" 280lbs. I'm hoping to commute 28 miles round trip. Next I've been thinking about getting personal property insurance on it because we have lots of bike thefts in my city. Already got a heavy lock and looking at GPS. Great review! Love your content

@Arob1999
2 жыл бұрын
Nan-robot D4+ 3.0 from ROADRUNNERS. Almost 1/3 the price of the grizzly on Black Friday, and going downhill I hit 42-45MPH. (55+v) They need to remove the speed limiter on the grizzly and all bikes, its killing their business. To keep up with cars, you need at least 35+. Bike companies seem to ignore this, and thats why the people end up choosing scooters. The Ariel Rider Grizzly has nearly 3700W Peak power. If the limiter was removed I'm sure it may go faster than 40MPH. My brother has the original Ariel Rider X-Class 52v, and he has gotten to 37MPH. But for an extra $1000, you get the same speed, but you get there a little faster. Im sorry to say Ariel Rider, but that is a big waste of time here. Those are two metal geared hub motors, that peak out 1.8KW! Just one motor is enough to go 30+ MPH. Why can't the other motor do what it's supposed to do, like scooters, and help the vehicle travel faster? The bike companies missed this all of this.
@carriebartkowiak
2 жыл бұрын
@@Arob1999 Because these aren't scooters, they aren't mopeds, they're BICYCLES. There are FEDERAL LAWS capping miles per hour on bicycles. If you go over it, you're no longer considered a bicycle and must go through all the crap that a motorcycle has to go through and are limited to street travel only. Ariel (and all the other e-BIKE manufacturers) are already pushing that federal line hard. If you want a faster vehicle that acts like a scooter, buy a scooter. But don't throw shade at the manufacturers for complying with federal law just because you want to ignore it.

Also, Ariel Rider wanted to know the wattage of the Wicked Thumb headlight. Wicked Thumb says the wattage is 8 watts on low beam and 12 watts on high beam. Like most people that do a review on this bike, you leave out a critical part of the review, which I understand is a huge CON for this bike. According to only a couple people that did a thorough test for a full suspension bike, when the bike leaves the ground and comes back down, as in leaving a sidewalk curb to jump onto a street or make small off road jumps, the motor will cut out. The mnfr says this is a safety reason. I say it's dangerous. They didn't say how they got it going again, but this is a show stopper for me if this is true.
