This is so far the best video on actually seeing a type 30 being fired. These are rare as most of the type 30 Arisaka's were converted to training rifles. My type 30 is converted to training. Bore has been bored out. Smooth bore. Probably could fire live 6.5mm but won't get accuracy. So i'll shoot blanks out of it. That's good enough for me.

@@alifr4088 Ah ok, yeah I got lucky for sure. Not only is it a matching but I've come to find out that 2 markings on this rifle make it very unique. The first being 2 concentric circles over stamped on to the mum, this means that this rifle was taken out of service to be sold. The second being a triangle stamped on the top of the receiver at the breach, this indicated that this rifle was captured by the Japanese and pressed into service. These 2 stamps seem to indicate that this rifle was first sold to China in one of the arms deals prior to mid 1930 and then later on recaptured by the Japanese in their Manchurian campaign leading up and into WW2.

Originally the bullet was a 6.5mm 160 grain, modern ammo for this gun is low pressure 140 grain or similar... its honestly not much of a difference in felt recoil at all. Its a very smooth shooting platform. Japanese snipers used to prefer the older Type 38s (6.5mm) over the newer Type 99s (7.7mm) because of the lack of recoil and overall smoothness of the platform.
