Welcome to the funky town of Tucson, Arizona. On our way to the west coast we make one final stop. Tucson is home to one of the best National Parks we’ve visited yet - Saguaro National Park!
The Saguaro is the largest species of cactus in the world, some growing to be 50 feet tall! Saguaro National Park is divided into two regions, east and west, with the town of Tucson right in the middle.
We spent the morning in the Tucson Mountain District (west) where the saguaro forest is dense and very impressive. We hopped over to the east side, the Rincon Mountain District for the easy breezy scenic loop drive. (But not before we stopped in town for the best horchata in Tucson!) This drive is ideal for those with limited mobility or non-hikers who want to get up close to the giant saguaros.
Finally, we rounded out the perfect day in Tucson with a stroll through historic Barrio Viejo. If you want to get to know the history of Tucson, you can’t miss this little neighborhood.
Tucson is funky, a little off beat and right up our alley. We weren’t sure what to expect but whatever expectations we had were certainly exceeded. You have to check out Tucson, Arizona!
