My thoughts exactly. It's like a mythical creature created in a world where there are dinosaurs to be seen and to inspire people to imagine fictional beasts. Like, you wouldn't put teeth in a griffin's beak or have a pegasus with forward-facing eyes; the animals they're based on simply aren't like that. Here we have a monster carno that actually looks like a carno, unlike certain monster dinosaurs that just look god awful (Universal studios, I'm looking at you). Finally, creative liberty is being used to make dinosaur designs and the dinosaurs don't turn up ugly for some reason. Can we also talk about how magnificent that dromeosaur or troodontid looks? It's still stylized, of course, but if you showed me this animal and Jurassic World's Pyroraptor and told me one is from a movie that claims to have significantly improved its scientific accuracy compared to the prequels and the other one is from a fantasy and sci-fi mix video game with orc people and space technology, then told me to guess which dinosaur is from which piece of media, I would have guessed wrong.

Quick correction Sloth: Deer antlers actually do not have a keratin sheath at all, they are just straight up bone. That's actually the major difference between antlers and horns. We have no example of a living animal creating branching antler-like structures with keratin sheathes over a bony horn. BUT modern horned animals like cattle, goats, and antelope do use keratin sheathes to significantly embiggen their horns compared to the bony core.

I compared the raptor in the concept art and in the trailer, and I reckon that the raptor shown here is a different species entirely. The key differences are the tail feathers, the body and face patterning and the size. The tail feathers on the mystery raptor jab out suddenly and go further along the tail than the trailer utahraptor. The colouring is also different in that this raptor has a more yellowish-orange colour than a rust brown. Stripes are also more prominent and the patterning on the wings are different. The size of this raptor is also off. If this is a utahraptor, then the Carnotaurus must be T. Rex sized in the sequel. The crest also changed, having a more dominion pyroraptor look rather than the one in the trailer. Tell me what you think in the replies.

Really in my opinion the thing thats worrying me for ARK 2, besides its gameplay apparently diverging so far from ARK 1, is the potential size increase of some of the dinos like the rex and carno. They were already pretty oversized in the first game. Like assuming the raptor is still big enough to ride on the carno is WAY bigger than before. And that makes me worry that the prey species are all going to be underpowered and tiny like they were before but potentially even worse. Like the Trike should be able to take on a Rex 1v1 but the ARK 1 Trike looks like the Rex could pick it up in its mouth and shake it like a toy. Fingers crossed that its just the concept oversizing it because otherwise its absolutely beautiful.
