Glad the Trooper wasn't seriously injured. Could have been a lot worse. Kudos to those who actually stopped to check on the Trooper as well. Seems that there's so much evil in the world or people just have that attitude of "not my problem" to where they don't want to help their fellow man regardless of ones feelings about certain issues. For those that say it was a stupid move, I'd love to know what exactly was stupid. You can never know for certain how contact will be made & at what angles your momentum may propel either vehicle. There have been numerous instances where the push bar can get entangled with a suspects vehicle & pull the Troopers vehicle or where the slightest bit of contact can send both vehicles out of control. You also never know what may have happened with the vehicle itself upon impact. That pump could have snapped a tie rod & prevented the Trooper from regaining adequate control. There's just a million things that can go wrong at any given point. So to say that he was stupid or to say that he needs Byrd to teach him is really out of line because Byrd could have the exact same thing happen to him. Valiant effort to Trooper Boothe & I hope that he doesn't let this incident make him hesitate or double guess any future decisions that could bring about major injuries. I just feel bad that the clown got away & that he had a mess load of paperwork to fill out after this!

@@aaadamt964 The fact that he lost control is obvious & isn't in dispute. I'm merely pointing out that there are millions of possibilities in which caused him to lose control. Driver error/misjudgment is one of those possibilities & there are many on here that's jumping the gun & saying that's the sole factor - which it's not. Again, a tie rod could just as easily have been the cause of him losing control in which case any other time he would have been able to recover without wrecking. IF something like equipment failure contributed or caused the total loss of control then it could have happened at any point when the PIT was attempted. That's all I'm trying to convey.

Is it normal procedure to engage in high speed chase + pit maneuver for fleeing a speeding offense? Like I'd get it if you run the plates and they're wanted for violent crime, but isn't this highly dangerous (as seen here) for both the officer and the general public? I was going to say that you have their plates so you should be able to work off that, but I guess that isn't necessarily the case because you don't know if the car was stolen (and probably people in stolen cars are much much much more likely to flee). Is there no way around this?

When the trooper approached the Honda, the Honda was moving around. That caused “dirty” air from the back of the Honda to cause lift in the front of the Trooper’s car. Speed was also a factor. Gotta say the Trooper was asleep from start to finish. When he crashed I wasnt even surprised. Pulls the car over which takes a long time to begin with which should ring alarm bells as he driver is clearly tying to decide whether to run. Once on the hard should Honda sits there clearly with their foot on the brake and car in gear as at no point do you see the reverse lights come on indicating they put the car in neutral. Trooper gets out of his car while hondas brake lights are all lit up and starts walking over head down not paying attention which is a huge problem in and of itself as he should have eyeballs on the occupants of the car to ensure they arent about to shoot at him. Car then takes off and he has to scramble to catch up and then totally messes up the pit manoeuvre by not getting up alongside the car he wants to pit enough. The rest is history. As others say he needs to spend time with Trooper Byrd learning how its done right.
