The B110 for warmer weather and the B310 if it's a little cooler or wetter are two of my favorite pieces of kit. I wear it over my waterproof, more expensive arcteryx and carinthia or wool stuff and it protects it and provides a camo layer. Waterproof insulating layer plus one of these is my compliment for 99% of weather from +40 to -40

NO no no, your talking to an Englishman. 357 magnum (Cannon) loose in a chest pocket, 1 mention the word handgun, the English go into a panic, even in Iraq we didnt go near pistols, but seriously i hope you have a retention holster or a secure method of carrying and retaining a pistol, i do not recommend loose in a chest pocket, you know we are jealous of your 2nd amendment , and have a choice

@@johnho2006 My apologies to you. I didn't meant to throw up the 2nd Amendment, that we do cherish. There are many people here that feel banning guns would deter criminals, but that just isn't the case. Law abiding citizens, such as my self are required to go through and extensive amount of red tape and background checks to walk around with a concealed gun. I live in Detroit, Michigan and there are many people carrying guns illegally in this city. If you're caught carrying a gun illegally in Michigan, the consequences are quite severe, but criminals don't care about consequences. No matter how stringent the laws are in the U.K. I'm sure there are people with guns illegally. The criminal element no matter where a person lives will always find a way to get a gun. What's happening in Canada right now is the main reason the 2nd Amendment prevails in the United States. Justin Trudeau is nothing more than a Dictator who's indoctrinating the population into Communism. The threat of this exists in the United States with the Left Wing Democrats in Washington. Hopefully we can turn this around before it's to late. People forget that the politicians aren't here to control us, We are here to control them and their bad behaviors.

Hi John, how windproof is the smock without additional lining? Is it like the SAS windproof smock? Thanks and all the best!
@johnho2006

its windproof as it is a very thick ripstop, material , but combine it with the stowaway shirt, its very effective in the current weather, just a great all round smock like the old SAS smock, it has some DWR finish so it shower proof, i am liking it. and would say i recommend it ,depends on your camo

Arktis is excellent kit, I have the original SAS smock from back in the day and it was great bit of kit (although my soaked NI gloves of the same vintage were not so great at the time) and I would say the Arktis is better/upgrade on it. John is correct on the windproof shirt also a great bit of kit, good review and from someone who knows what it's like to be cold/wet over many years of service, so his thoughts are valued.

Could any of you fine gentlemen advise me on the correct method of sizing up UK/NATO kit? There's lots of figures, numbers & measurments that have me bamboozled. For example, where to measure sleeve length from and how much allowance to make for inner layers etc. Do I go for the next size up or are such items as the smock designed to accommodate 2/3 layers as standard? I've got a 44" chest and long, long arms so I'm always nervous in case l end up looking like Catweazle. Cheers!

@@johnho2006 sadly no. they ditch the DPM and went for multi-terrain camouflage uniform called (MCU). It cost $13.6 million to develop. took it to an Australian company and they Outsourced it to China and that's where it got made. Bloody China of all places. Uniforms had lots of defects China was using cheap dies pattern kept on fading out and the wrong material was used making them overheating when training. Now they have gone multi-terrain pattern NZ MTP. sourcing the materials from Great Britain herself and geting manufacturing in New Zealand. This was in 2019. A bit of a side note just in case someone's reading and don't know. we have the American Alice pack in DPM as well even a updated version of it. Thanks for the reply John
