about 4:27 - Karyakin said the magic word 'Поправляю' ('Correcting') after that he could touch whatever he want.

If you are saying that the various handicaps equal things out at the very start, how does that translate to a draw at the end resulting in a win for one but not a loss for the other at the end? Either they start as equals (with or without the handicap considerations), then play to a proper draw (no win, no loss), or one starts with an advantage at the beginning that that edge is factored in at the end in case of a draw.

White has additional time on his clock to compensate for having to win. It's a special format used in tie-break situations.

Thanks for that explainer The "Touch Move" rule is silly, it should only be used for training not during game play especially not in competition I don't know how this game play protocol graduated to a rule, but it is clearly irrelevant to actual game play Shaking hands before a game, using the same hand to move a piece and touch a clock, etc are all playing protocols, and or tournement rules but not CHESS rules, it makes sense to keep it that way

after the pawns exchange white would be foolish to grab the 'free' pawn on e5 as the queen exchange would allow the black knight to take e4 with lots of pressure on f2. Taking e5 give the black dark square bishop a strong game, basically.

What a disgusting time control and setup... too bad they had to get rid of the old Aeroflot sponsored classical tournament. The winner did not display his superiority over his opponent other than winning on the clock like in a cheap street speed game.
