In Jammu and Kashmir’s Doda, a defense initiative has been implemented to safeguard villages from anti-national elements, surpassing the traditional reliance on male participants. The Village Defense Guard (VDG) program has equipped and trained both men and women, with 250 female members currently proficient. This forward-thinking approach encompasses extensive training in firing techniques and tactical strategies to address potential threats effectively. The VDG program, comprising 875 committees and boasting over 6,000 members, has emerged as a pivotal line of defense. Under the guidance of the SSP in Doda, VDG members undergo training in essential skills such as firing, area domination, and patrolling. The proactive engagement of women at the forefront of training highlights their significant role in village protection.
