What track position are you putting the 1250 for prone surfing and kiting?

Hi Matt, thanks for your review. I have the hs1550 which l love for prone at 185 lb. For use as a prone foil can you comment on how the hs1250 pumps compared to the hs1550. And also how it turns compared to the hs1550. Many Thanks 🙏

Yeah that is a really common question we are getting. For context, I'm 165 lbs. The basics are that the HS1550 is easier to pump at a low speed, easier to turn rail to rail and takes off sooner. The HS1250 goes faster, has a lot more glide on the pumps and carries speed through turns better. I found that the HS1250 is effortless to pump when you get it in the pump zone. This requires you to be up to speed with the wing high in the water column. If you are in that zone, you just tap that front foot and fly back out to the line up. The HS1250 takes a little more speed to take off on a wave. I can still take off on tiny waves but you need to pump it as soon as you get to your feet. For turning, the wider span of the HS1250 means that it does not roll rail to rail as fast as the HS1550, but you can carry your speed through the turn with the HS1250 better than the HS1550. Long story short, I am telling customers that the HS1550 is easier to ride and learn to surf, pump and turn on. Once you know how to do all those things, the HS1250 is hard to beat the user friendly high performance features of this foil. It is really a mind blowing experience surfing the HS1250.

@@REALmattnuzzo Thanks for this awesome response Matt. How would the 1850 fit into the picture? Even easier to pump?

@@greg.ocallaghan yes the HS1850 is a lot easier to pump. Slower speed and slower turning but you will stay on foil longer with the HS1850. In my experience, I really learned to pump and glide with the HS1850 in small waves. I still use the HS1850 for surfing when the waves are really small or my legs/lungs are shot.

@@REALmattnuzzo Thanks for the reply. I think an 1850/1250 combo will be best for me then !

Hello, what average speed do you get with a 5 qm wing in 15knots?

Thanks for all your continued intel! For kiting, does the 1250 require a noticeable higher forward speed for liftoff vs the 1050 or 1200??

Right on! Super stoked on sessions and happy to share what we learn with others. As far as kiting with these three wings you ask about, the CF1200 has the best low speed lift. The HS1250 takes just a touch more but not much. The HS1250 does not have as smooth of a lift as the CF1200, but the HS1250 will gave a faster top end. The HS1050 will take more forward speed than both of those but if you know how to kite foil it doesn't take much. When you drop down to something like the HS625, that takes a lot more forward speed to get on foil and soon as you are on foil, you are cruising at 20mph.

Hi Matt, nice review ! For prone foiling, how do you compare the HS 1250 to hydros fw 1250 ? Many thanks
@REALmattnuzzo

They are very different riding foils. The HS1250 is a lot smoother and easier to ride. You will get longer gliding pumps and higher top speeds with the HS120. The Hydros 1250 is quicker rail to rail and a little harder to ride. I feel the Hydros will be a little better in the pocket where the HS1250 is a little better all around.

What wind range would you use the HS1250 vs the HS1850? Thanks.

Hi Alex. Thanks for the question. For winging, I'm using the HS1250 in as light as 10mph but really like it best in 18+. The HS1850 I will ride in 8-18 as my go to wing and some time when it is really small and 20+ I will take it out to maximize the glide. They both have great speed range and turning. The HS1250 turns faster and it is a bunch faster so I'm pretty addicted to the ride quality on that foil. The HS1250 is truly an amazing foil once you get a little more ocean swell because you can turn quick, glide and pump to stay surfing on the swell while you are winging. Also it is fun for winging speed laps at Wing Hole.
