9:36 Not so directly. You still have to use the metal to upgrade it and general etiquette is that if you take metal from another Engineer's dispenser then use that metal on their Dispenser, or any other nearby buildings that aren't fully upgraded. Chances are that Engineer was intending on using that metal to do just that. Of course, if everything they have is fully upgraded then there's no harm in using the metal for your own stuff or to maintain their buildings if they happen to be under attack when they aren't there.

This is all fine and dandy, until you realize dispensers (and buildings in general) last around 20 seconds including build up time. Engineer seemed to me as a "Win More" class, because if your team is already winning or at least holding a line (because chokepoints and hardly ever you'll find a perfectly even match that is not ruined by crits), you'll notice that your buildings aren't instantly going down. Otherwise on a normal scenario, you can't get a building set up. That.... or you're building " "funny" " sentries.
@walnut6684
2 жыл бұрын
Heavy, sniper, medic and engineer are what you would consider "Win more" Heavy is the "win more" of offense. If the enemy only has one good heavy, then they aren't gonna win. But if they have a good team, having a good heavy just increases their chances of winning tenfold. Sniper without a good team to protect him is just gonna die quickly, but being protected by a sentry nest and a pybro like a little bitc- like a good sniper is hell. Medic is medic Engineer is the "win more" of defense, the counterpart to heavy. The sentry is capable, but it can't do well against ubers, demomen and soldiers. So it's the team's job to prevent these from destroying the sentry nest. There are so many times where i just destroy the sentry nest easily because no one was protecting the sentry's blind spot.
@mostdefinitelynotadurian
2 жыл бұрын
@@walnut6684 regarding soldiers and demomen, don't forget the engie has access to the short circuit, the wrangler, and the rescue ranger, which is capable to deter their attacks or atleast had them waste ammo by performing focus fire on not just your sentry but also at you

as an engie playing mainly CTF, I have 2 modes: 1- the classic defensive engie nest, cutting off acces to the intelligence to the enemy, where the dispenses is usedul if besieged withotu allies or if allies were pushed until there; in that case the sentry is where it needs to be, and the dispenser is there because it would be unprotected by the engie elsewhere 2- if the nest isn't pressured/attacked enough to warrant defense, plop down a teleporter to the frnt, then dispenser and sentry. in that case the sentry becomes a defense for a mini spawn/resupply area with very high ally AND enemy traffic, with the sentry denying the enemy from properly leaving their side of the map if players arent enough for it. Such a setuf has to be made in a hurry however (teleporter, then as soon as its active go through it with a level 3 sentry in your hands then place the dispenser), meaning spreading buildings is NOT an option unless you want to get killed before the setup is done.
