At least you can be national guard where you can stay in your state & come home after you serve the 9 hours or whatever you gotta serve for the day.

as former army I can tell you the benefits do outweigh the cons, having free healthcare and my tuition paid for while i get paid 2160 a month on top of my job by the VA is amazing and has allowed me a financial freedom I never had, the post-911 alone is a big reason why but there's many other s like the VA home loan and etc etc, I def suffered during my time and it was tough at times and had to deal with crap situations and such that being an infantryman in the army brings but I had alot of good times and moments I felt proud to be in the army but if pondering it its a great decision to set the building blocks for you future and you'll be at a huge advantage with all the benefits and stuff and skills the army will give you in service and after if you decide to leave after your contract!

Former combat vet and 11b e-5 here after 4 years, military is half good half bad you'll have your great days and good days and a lot of stressful, bs ones but what I got out of the army outweighed the cons, learned a lot and made me the man I am today from friendships for life, to discipline to the numerous benefits in the army and once you leave and are a "veteran" such as the post-911 gi bill and I'm currently splurging off the GI bill on top of my job and because of the military am able to be in the financially secure position I'm in today that will pay dividends down the road just ordered a 2022 scatpack myself and all of this was cause of what the army gave me and Im thankful but its not for everyone after your in the bs and politics and etc. weighs down on your mental and why I got out so loving my life in Florida and will be applying to become a deputy for my local sheriffs office life is great!

Talked to a recruiter today and he told me I didn’t qualify for my dads VA benefits for college, I told him I have the paperwork and he just said, No.

Why would you go to a recruiter to complain about VA benefits? The VA is its own seperate entity the army recruiter is a member of the army LOL if you want free college do your time in the actual military and earn it

@@aslysa2277 There’s not even any good reasons to go to college. Take a chill pill.
