On September 12th, 1874, a group of six U.S. Army scouts and soldiers is caught out in the open expanses of the North Texas prairies by a group of Kiowa and Comanche warriors.
In the midst of what history will come to know as “The Red River War”, these warriors have come upon this band trespassing scouts and soldiers and intend to make them pay dearly for their transgressions.
Among these men is Billy Dixon, who only months earlier saved the lives of many at The Second Battle of Adobe Walls by making a miraculous shot that killed the chief of the charging Kiowa, Comanche and Cheyenne forces.
It seems that Dixon and his comrades will almost certainly not survive the day.
However, they manage to find a shallow depression known as a “buffalo wallow”-created by the roaming herds of American bison- and take what small cover they can.
Now, these men will make a desperate stand for their lives against the what is perhaps the finest light cavalry in the world in the Kiowa and Comanche.
The story of what happens next is one of the most legendary tales in the History Of The Old West.
