It seems like you’re always fighting mud, snow and frost in Michigan. When I was a kid the bus turned around in our horseshoe driveway, that didn’t help the battle. About the time we got everything squared away, my dad sold the farm. I couldn’t afford what they were paying. I still miss farming. I have 3 acres surrounded by hundreds, hopefully it stays rural for a while longer. If the 2010 would have had a hydraulic bucket, I would have used that. The 1105 looked pretty sharp though. Thanks JT.

Here in Finland, usually when yards and roads are built, the topsoil is peeled off about half a meter. After that, insulating fabric so that the subsoil and coarser gravel or crushed stone don't start to mix together. When you do it properly, you don't have to hustle many times

you're doing it wrong 😂 (just for the reactions) I would use the 165 on the blade myself, the big tractors are for packing. (between the heavy clutch and maneuverability of our big tractors, I go to the small one). What i do, that takes 2 days and upsets my dad, is blade the old slop away or level it, then move the new gravel on top. It wastes the new gravel more evenly when you're doing it cheaply 😂. I get a pretty good surface when i'm done. We also have the blade reversed so you're cutting in reverse, no idea if it is better the other way. I have seen road crews using offset disks , maybe a couple passes with one of those on the old ruts first wouldn't hurt, and save time. I think you did well. you're at the stage of stopping the mud so you can figure out the next step, it's gonna take a lot more gravel to actually solve the problem. and some landscaping! thanks for sharing your adventure with us :)
