Agreed on both accounts but Rod hits the nail on the head everytime! The gospel supercedes every sin. If pastors are lost at the dock they'll never get out to sea. Keep the heading on the law/gospel and you'll find Port everytime!

Honestly, what Rosenbladt says confuses me. He seems to be worried about what I think is simply a false dichotomy in his mind - as though taking a stand against sin and false teaching (whether that be female pastors or same-sex behavior or abortion or idolatry or gossip or disobeying parents or theft - or whatever may be the sin issue at hand that is being affirmed by some who claim to follow Christ) can lead to the danger of some pastors not being alble to "deliever the goods of the Gospel," as Rosenbladt says. Now, if there are cases where some pastors are focusing on a particular sin issue to the point where they spend little or no time preaching the "whole counsel of God" and the person and work of Christ FOR US - then I would resonate with Rosenbladt's concern. But, honestly, I have not seen this happening. If anything, the danger I HAVE seen taking place is that current sin issues facing the Christian Church are being given little or no attention and the justification is that we must "keep our focus on Christ." I guess such people should invent a time machine so they can warn the apostle Paul who in 1st Corinthians and other letters could address very specific sin issues and false teaching with theological rigor and yet still keep Christ and Him crucified FOR US the central message. As for Rosenbladt's comments that a certain seminary dedicates 15 minutes of every lecture in every class to the evil of women's ordiantion, I'm thinking that's a bit of hyperbole. But even if that were true or even if the issue at hand was not women's ordiantion but same-sex behavior or abortion or idolatry, this does NOT necessarily mean that the Gospel itself will be compromised. Of course, that's always a danger. There's always a chance that opposing false teaching could result in the equally false teaching that we are "the pure" before God because of what we oppose. But, honestly, I have not met ONE LCMS pastor who asserts that we are "the pure" before God because of the error we oppose instead of being "the pure" because we are "in Christ."

"The erosion of the Scriptures paved the way." This is TRUTH! I would NEVER attend a church with a female OR a homosexual pastor. The Apostle Paul was RIGHT!

Isn't Dr. Nestingen affiliated with the NALC now? It sounds here like he's still in the ELCA.
