Like the find ! Back in 1984 out goose hunting in the swamps of Northern Utah in the fall ,after the major flooding in the spring earlier that year ! People were messing up our hunting walking around the the area multiple times ! I had a talk with an older man that showed me what to look for ! I was amazed by the 1000 year old Arrowheads and bits of pottery that I found !!! That experience was really Awesome !!! I Also know a man that has a massive collection of 800 year old forest Indians all Documented through the University of Colorado ! He laid out the collection on two king sized bed sheets on the floor and you could see more artifacts than sheet ! It's Amazing ! I think Cody has them now ! I hope all is well with her she is Awesome !

Thanks man! Whew, yeah that’s always my fear is messing up someone’s hunt. I try to be as mindful as I can be, and remain quieter than usual when I know I’m near popular hunting areas. I accidentally messed up a guys deer hunt and scared them off years back on accident. I’ve felt bad about it ever since! Hopefully you didn’t come down on that older fellow too hard. That was nice of him to show you what you were missing out on! No telling what you had walked past in all the prior years of hunting. I’m sure you remember finding your first one like it was yesterday too! It’s incredible how many there are to be found when you know what you’re looking for. As you can tell from the amount of artifacts covering the bed sheets! That’s wild sounding! I have some property in Brigham City that I purchased years ago thinking I might enjoy going to when spending time in my second favorite state. I never looked around for artifacts there though… sounds like I should! Haha

@Points365
10 ай бұрын
Only one?! That’s not me to just have one! Haha I hear ya though. Sometimes it seems like the diggers have all the luck. But it sure does seem like an awful lot of work for a few artifacts! Not to mention the people that dig around these parts do so illegally(not private land), which will ultimately ruin it for everyone. It’s all good though… with as much as I’m out, I know who they are and I report them to proper authorities. Amen though… rain brings the artifacts for sure!!

@NGA2014 Man, I wish I had the skills to do that! One time I collected some nice big chunks / flakes of flint just to get an idea of what it took to create a projectile out of raw material. One time is all it took for me! Haha I feel like everyone who collects artifacts should give it a try once. It really makes you look at and appreciate them more. I was doing good just to get a decent edge on the flint, let alone shape it the way I wanted! I wasn’t even using primitive tools either. So kudos to you for your ability to do so! Do you use antler billets and tips of antlers for pressure flaking?
@bottling.hobo.
10 ай бұрын
@@Points365 I use hardwood and antler billets. I use antler for pressure flaking. Quartz is abundant around my area, so I dove in the deep end at first. I appreciate the easiness of chert now. It has made me appreciate what I find and now appreciate the pooters even more. I'm currently trying to master burning holes through wood with a hot coal, for my axe heads. I've shaped a few celts and hafted them on some wood handles I cut to shape. I'll eventually post some videos of that once I get the technique down right.

Thanks buddy! Sorry it’s been so long. It’s been a busier than normal year for me, and putting together videos it somewhat of a time consuming process for me. It doesn’t come as easy for me as finding them! Haha I used my eye loupe to check that coin out. It was so corroded I couldn’t tell. Penny for sure based off the size. Might be modern with how corroded it was. They don’t make em like they used to! I feel bad for future generations of people metal detecting. Coins deteriorate so fast when exposed to the elements. I did have a nice old nickel find a couple months ago, along with another old coin that’s so worn it’s literally smooth on both sides! Both will of course be in upcoming videos. Man the type of material is totally unknown to me.. it’s for sure different from any other type that I find around here. The spot where I found it has a knack for having artifacts made out of some of the most exotic materials though! But absolutely on the music.. It’s a song called “Dome sweet dome” by Nat Keefe with the bow ties. They provide their music free for anyone to use in videos. A generous thing for them to do. I should probably start adding a shout out or some sort of recognition to them at the end of the videos or something. Thanks for giving me the idea!
