If I didn't need more reasons to dislike Man City, they gave me many many more. Rodri hitting the deck holding his face in the first five minutes, ala Busquets. Haaland, now hugely down in my estimations, for throwing the ball at Gabriel. I'm all for competitiveness in games, but throwing the ball at the back of someone's head when they're not looking, is too much. Silva's bleeting about dark arts etc forgetting Fernandinho did the same 'dark arts' for years and hardly ever got carded. Man City really do have the arrogance and believe their own hype now. Let's hope they will get their just desserts for their years of financial lies.

No one mentions the fact that Arsenal played 3 away games in 8 days and in the first 5 premier league games have played Villa, Spurs and City away, but still have not lost. For me this isn’t about inconsistent application of the rules with doku etc. this is a straight up error from Oliver. Trossard is NOT trying to delay play. He is full swing trying to release Martinelli (who is our fastest player with 2/3rds of the pitch open in front of him) all whilst the whistle is still blowing. He tries to temper the pass after hearing the whistle buy could never fully stop himself with that short a time after that swing. It’s not humanly possible. Michael Oliver was paid £20,000 to referee a single game by City’s owners in 2023. For reference, they earn approx £1,500 per match in the Prem. In what world is this not a conflict of interest. Oliver has had a litany of decisions incorrect, missed, inconsistently applied in City’s favour since. I cannot understand how this isn’t a conflict of interest. Thanks Charles. I have to say I am very proud of this Arsenal team's performance, even if we had lost, which we didn't. For context, that was our (not just us but everyone else) most difficult fixture of the season (on paper) and we didn't lose. We have now played away at Nando's FC, Villa and City, winning two and drawing one while not having our best team available for the most part, that is not bad at all. As for the officiating, if you can call it that at all, the more I talk about it, the more incensed and miffed I'll get. What even get's more angry is when people talk about the decision being "inconsistent". Well, when it is consistently "inconsistent" against a particular team, it is not inconsistency brought on by incompetence anymore, IT IS CORRUPTION, let's call it what it is and move. The "Letter of the law" only seemed to be applied whenever it is Arsenal involved and then there ask a stupid question like "what else can the referee do"? in the same match he elected not to do anything when the same set of facts occurred. 😒

the sad case of referees is that when they make a mistake, they often feel they have to make another decision to make up for it, the ref made a mistake by not allowing walker to get into position after calling him for Califiori's goal, and saw the trossard incident as a key opportunity to make up for it more so than anything else..

What seems sadly obvious is there seems to be a greater propensity for Arsenal players to be punished. In real time I didn't realise that a foul had been given until after he attempted to set Martinelli off on a break. Obviously the ref saw something different and in my mind he wanted to see that - and also wanted to give Trossard his first yellow following a reasonably innocuous shirt tug that we see happen repeatedly over the pitch with little or no consequence. You're right - refs do make choices and Trossard should be canny enough to realise from the first yellow that in his case the ref is looking for the opportunity. His 'challenge' was 50/50 at best and actually not crucial in that phase of play.. we will never get refs that aren't human therefore we will never have refs without bias but I think some of our players do need to be smarter in these situations - credit to Gabriel, Saliba, Havertz and Saka who seem to manage so much provocation with appropriate responses.

Sorry for a bit of maths here, but if you assume 92 points are needed for the title then you need 2.4 points per game. From these opening 5 games we've 2.2 points and given we've played 3 of the likely top 6 (3/5ths essentially as we're one of those 6) away from home you'd expect to see an uptick in the points per game in the coming weeks - so once you account for the difficulty of these opening games I'd say we're on for the title at this point (don't blame you Charles if you don't want to use this comment tomorrow! 🤣)

Before this match I have always admired City's relentless style and the genius of Pep but now I see they are a lot of whiners, complaining about dark arts, etc. when these methods are used against them. You can't have your way all the time and expect teams to roll over for you. No consistency again. Doku also kicked the ball away. Forget about yellow card, ref did not even warn him.

Listen. This is how it is. Delaying restart is a yellow offence and we can’t expect consistency. That should be crystal clear by now. Let’s hope Arteta drives home the point about not messing with restarts. We have been punished twice already. Let’s avoid a third. There is no recourse after a decision. Complaining about it doesn’t change anything. We need to avoid putting ourselves in the situation and that’s completely within our control.

Charles, Trossard does not "kick the ball away".... he was clearly trying to play it for martinelli who was beginning his run.

Manchester City truly are the villains of the modern sporting world. I used to give the players a pass because I believed you couldn't fault them nor Pep. As of yesterday I no longer extend that grace. They are all scoundrels. With regard to buying ref's and match rigging we can only assume that their Machiavellian attitudes extend to all aspects of sport based on the way they have reacted to the league's charges.

LOL! City is not the best team in Europe. Did they win the Champions League last year? No. That was Real Madrid. Does anyone think that will change this year if City have to play Real Madrid in the latter rounds of the Champions League? Doubt it!

I agree with you because Man City are scared of Arsenal and they are rattled by Arsenal’s performance and it shows by the behaviour of haarland and Bernardo silva!

I could’ve sworn Trossard was actually trying to pass to Martinelli who was breaking through? He was in the motion. Strange.

I'm sure this result against City will make everyone at the club even more determined to beat City to the PL trophy this year. We've shown in the last few matches how hard it is to beat us even with 10 men. For the teams coming up in the PL, Leicester, Southampton and Bournemouth, they might find themselves on the end of a battering, then we face Liverpool, Newcastle and Chelsea, where we will hopefully be well into our swing and oozing with confidence. Trossard was already swinging his foot at the ball when the ref blew the whistle, he had no idea the ref was going to blow the whistle, he was playing the ball as if the match was still progressing, so it's not a yellow card. The expression "bad losers" applies to City players, they are acting like they lost because they felt like they had lost and we had won, even though we get a point each that's not how they feel about the game. Sad losers!

I think Arteta must tell all of the players from today that if someone got yellow card then be really really careful, no reaction and no foul on other players if not they will always be target for any simple thing that happen in the field. I was very impressed by Partey because he also got yellow card before half time but with 10 menn that needs a lot of defending he managed to finish 90 miniute without any foul.

The best team in Europe? England yes, but Europe? How many UCL's have they won under Pep, and with all their huge budget. How many by RM in the same period? How do you evaluate the best team in Europe? By UCL's or by domestic trophies?

Michael Oliver and other refs are extremely suspect. Why do they keep making clear errors that favour certain teams? I wonder why.

Finally we can say Arsenal are the real deal Holyfield 🎉 when your players limp off it’s something to be proud of they gave everything!! Relax Guys Arsenal will win the league. There isn’t an away ground left where we can’t compete and win in the Premier League.

I read an interview with Haalands dad years ago (It was dated 2014) and when it was announced Haaland had agreed terms with Man City I went to reread that interview only to find it was gone. In that interview Alfie mentioned that he, his dad and grandad were all Arsenal fans. Erlings behaviour always feels personal when he plays us. He acts like we're in some "beef" only we don't know we're in it with him. His family are side eye worthy in general tbh, his Dad packed them all up a few years ago and moved them to Switzerland just so they could avoid paying Norway's high tax rates and then there's the rumours about what his Dad received from a certain club under the table aswell as over it. Anyways, I used to get notifications here all the time but then you went independent and they seemed to stop. I thought you'd slowed down your posting but I came here and found that wasn't the case. This isn't the first time KZitem have messed up the notifications

You know, it would be such a shame if people load up Haland feed with “Stay humble” every time he missed or drew a blank. That would be a tragedy. Hope people don’t encourage others to do the same.

Hi Charles! Really intrigued to see how we approach the Bolton game on Wednesday. My starting lineup would be: Raya, White, Saliba, Kiwior, Lewis-Skelly, Rice, Nwaneri, Jorginho, Sterling, Jesus, Martinelli. I wonder who will earn a place on the bench, maybe Kabia, Nichols, Kacurri, from the respective youth sides. Interested to know your thoughts!

Don’t usually comment, love the videos. Keep it up, nice to have a daily update that isn’t scewed or over emotional. Very grounded! Just want to ask about Califiori. It looked like he made some real good forward passes under pressure. Some of the best all game. What do you think of this? I think he is/did phenomenal at progressing forward under pressure in our half. Could be something here beyond Ariels and solid defense. 🤔

February 1st 2025: Big Gabi scores our second goal in the 97th minute to rubber stamp our 2-0 win, runs into the goal mouth, retrieves the ball and throws it at the back of Haalands head. Magical.

Hi Charles, I look at City's reaction... and I think the biggest mistake they've made here... is they've made this personal. Rodri's comments last year... Haaland hitting Gabriel with the ball when he isn't looking before insulting Arteta and our players... Bernardo Silva and Akanji's comments... even John Stones' dark arts rubbish... Can't help but be reminded of how this team used Ivan Toney's "Nice kick about with the boys" tweet. No more powerful motivational force than making it personal.

Love Trossard but he did know what he was doing, it wasn't a pass but a frustrated boot and immediately turned to the ref - it was a angry reaction to knowing he gave a way a free kick. I agree it had no material impact unlike delaying a quick free quick - but it was a clear yellow. The mistake was in not booking Doku, not not sending off Trossard. The game will be better for it - they will learn stop kicking the ball away. Arsenal will gain more confidence from this game than had they won it 11-11 - they gave up a player and city were fairly impotent.
