Kenny Sansom, a strong left-back for the Arsenal who led us to the league cup thirty-seven years ago. Tony Woodcock, who we signed from the German club FC Cologne, was a clinical striker for our club, too. Woodcock took over from Frank Stapleton who unfortunately joined Manchester United.

No advertising on the shirts in those days, and the football was more enjoyable.

By far better days , when the game had mostly English born players as the majority, no advertising, no overpriced tickets , old bill instead of stewards, and fans that weren’t as delusional

Vladimir Petrovic was our first overseas player - I am not including John Kosmina.the Aussie reserve. We all loved Petrovic. Unfortunately, Don Howe didn't share the love. I remember the home game with Sunderland near the end of the season when the whole crowd were urging Howe and Neill to keep Petrovic. To no avail. I was gutted when they let him leave in the summer.

Paul Davis is the only one of this Arsenal team to win a League title winners medal with Arsenal but I believe that Stewart Robson would undoubtedly been another. It was a loss at the time when he left for West Ham.

At the time, around 83, everyone was saying Stewart Robson would become a definite future England regular, but it sadly never happened. Think the main reason was he became more and injury prone as the seasons went on.

Regrettably no loss when sold. Stewart Robson but for injuries would have been Arsenal captain. He was sold to West Ham because they were willing to pay £650k for a player who was never going to be able to retain full fitness. When fit he was a super player.
