Pls do basic types of pencil and color materials beginners must have before starting sketching and painting. I started to learn sketching cuz I saw one of ur videos and wanted to learn painting. Btw I love the live, motivates me more to make sketches.

For sketching you only need a sketchbook, graphite pencil (any pencil) and an eraser. For painting it depends what medium you are interested in. A video would be great for that.

I agree with Renee that for sketching you won't need as much, i usually use a red ballpen for my sketches and switch it up sometimes

I just got one from Schmincke for my gouache and it\s horrible. Even if I left the painting outside for 3 hours I could smell it. I have a Winsor and newton one for the graphite but the smell it\s not that strong.

Thank you for sharing your art haul and artwork (I like seeing the supplies being used)! I like your drawing. Just a note about Blackwing pencils. The Matte pencil has a soft core - matte refers to the color of the paint on the pencil, not the pencil's graphite core. The other basic pencils are Pearl (balanced graphite), 602 (firm graphite), and Natural (extra firm graphite). They recently released a Lab 11.26.21 (limited, sold out) pencil with an extra soft graphite core. Blackwing may make this part of the regular line in the future; Lab pencils are usually a trial run to see how well they work. The latest Lab was a red core pencil.

I enjoyed this video so much, you really nailed the artwork. :) just wanted to say.. I often use fixative for my sketchbooks just to keep pastels and graphite from smudging. The thing is, I dont think that a spray fixative is made for painting over it although I never tried it. Keep up your beautiful work

@@hambot ohh I see! I have another question about the pencils. I always wanted to try them but also thought they're very expensive. Are they a lot better than some pencils you've used? And is the black matte version somewhat like 4B or 6B? Hope to get your opinion on that ^^

The finished piece is so cool, I love the contrast of the shiny pencil and the matte gouache! I own a good amount of both winsor & newton and holbein traditional gouache, and I find them to be pretty interchangeable as well. The only noticeable difference to me is that the winsor & newton tends to be more liquidy while the holbeins out of the tube can be more stiff. For me in the US, I get my supplies from Blick and the winsor & newton is cheaper than the holbein, but the color range is a lot smaller, so I mostly buy winsor & newton and supplement with more interesting colors from holbein!
