Correction! the old 12.9" pro has 4GB of Ram, not 2GB as mentioned in this video. So both pro's in this video have the 4GB, which explains why the iPad 2018 was the only one crashing, with 2GB of Ram... my bad, sorry! ( The old 9.7" iPad Pro had 2GB of RAM, I got confused)

I’m myself not a perfect artist anyway. And I am by no means in a financial crisis, but did change my job for more happiness and a little less money, and that’s when I learned how to appreciate what I have, and the “student” option is far too easy to recommend to enthusiasts. Nice review. I feel that the new ipad 2018 is good enough for doing light illustration, doodling and such. This is great because my illustration work is not very heavy (doesn't require 20 different layers, brushes, or colors) but my concern is that whether it will be a reliable device when I have to produce not just a few but let say 200 pages of illustrations for a children book project?

I showed the parallax on the cintiq companion compared to the pro in my 12.9 video, I probably should have done a close up comparison here... but it really is much more accurate than the cintiq. Wacom always gets off, especially near the sides of the screen, no matter how you try and calibrate it. With the pencil, it's always dead on, just the pro's display is more on the surface than the normal ipad. Thanks for the comments.

I don't recommend this iPad 6th Generation. We just experienced problem with ours. We bought it in Sep 2018 and it appears a Power on problem just after one year. Once the screen is locked, the screen will remain dark and won't get screen on even though we know it has 100% battery. We tried the recommendations online (Pressed home and power together etc.) and it doesn't work. Yesterday we brought it to an Apple store, and the representative did a full resetting to my iPad 6th Generation and it still not working. So they said I have to pay $329+Tax for repair as it seems a hardware problem. And they also said we should have purchased $79+Tax extension warranty at the time we purchased it. Since it has past one year, that's the repair fee we need to pay. We are very disappointed with this iPad 6 Generation's quality and we believe there must be some problem with this device's quality. We have iPad 4th Generation, iPhone 4, iPhone 5, iPhone 6, iPhone 8 Plus and iPhone 11 at home, and among all of them, this iPad 6th Generation is the WORST! DON'T BUY!

I went to Best Buy today, and tried the 10.5 Pro and the 2018 iPad....the pencil feels different on the 10.5 pro, it feels more like paper, there's kind of a grit paper like feel to the screen, kinda hard to describe. Where as on the iPad 2018, it feels more like plastic pen rubbing on a plastic screen, not saying it's good or bad, but I could totally tell the difference. Overall in Canadian dollars, it's roughly 500$ difference between the two tablets. Both are great, the iPad 2018 is no slouch, it's really quite decent for the price.

Do you use the iPad drawing features for fun, or very light work (you're a solo business practitioner and wan to create/edit files), then regular iPad. I feel the pro was made specifically for actual artists/art students, to compete directly with Wacom tablet.

Joker TM Id say the pro. The 6th Gen iPad has a better processor which comes in handy, but the Pro exceeds in pretty much all areas, by having a True Tone display, better camera and more speakers. That tue tone display really helps out when it comes to art design, and it is lighter which means it’ll be easier to hold whilst drawing.

Tom Mitchell Wow thank you, I really appreciate the exposure and views! And yeah, I’d love to see what some of these great artist could do with the pencil. I’ve switched from 100% cintiq/tablet pc to pro & pencil for work (I’m a concept artist) and know some others that have done the same thing. It is really an amazing tool, a game changer for some. I’m glad that there is this cheap version now, which was one of biggest complaints that I had on my original pro 12.9 and 10.5 reviews, that the pencil doesn’t work on a regular ipad, and that the pro is too expensive.
@tomzer1
6 жыл бұрын
I-Wei Huang Certainly Apple has hit a sweet spot with the new iPad between price and functionality. I hope that opens it up to a lot more creatives. The Cintiq is still king with a lot of manga artists that are working digitally in Japan, but I hope this starts converting some. With the iPad, they could actually go outside and work in the fresh air for a change! 😅 And the portability will also help them hide from nagging editors. 😅😅

Better have a 12.9" iPad Pro because you will have larger room to draw , others wise UI of the drawing software occupies too much room which leaves you small area to do drawing , the software shown in the video is procreate which is designed at best to avoid too many UIs , however other softwares like Medipaint, sketch has many icons and menus on screen, and as in the video if you want to use spltscreen to show 2 windows at same time , believe me you have to get a 12.9" iPad pro

One question, I think, between Pro 2018 11" and Ipad 2018. Most of all I need a tablet for learning, for example, to make notes in PDF documents (educational magazines and workbooks). But, I also work with graphics, mainly on powerful laptops and stationary PCs that require so much more resources to work, and I don’t know if I need Pro 2018 11" for work - a strange question, because I have never used the tablet in this way) but if I take the iPad 2018 for the growth of my old Samsung Galaxy Tab S LTE, it will be much more powerful and support for the Apple Pencil, which for me is the main reason for replacing

What do you think about ipad pro 10.5 vs ipad 8 for painting?

I've never had a problem with the size of the 10.5 personally it's not any hardert to use than the 12 inch model. I find it easier as it is lighter to carry around and takes up less room on a desk.

It is so much easier to move around and carry for sure! I do love working on 12.9 for art, but prefer the 10.5 as an everyday tablet + art machine.

Soooo.. Which one is better between the IPAD PRO 2016 and the IPAD 6 2018? I need it for edition of images and work in community management. Help me please.

I think old pro is probably still going to be faster, and has a bigger screen. But I’m not sure what kind of editing you need to do, and if that will make enough of a difference.

So were the pros you used both gen 2 pros or gen 1's. Both gens of pros have laminated screens just the speed us faster on pro 2 right?
@crabfu

The big pro is 12.9 g1, and smaller is 10.5 g2. Both have laminated screens. I have review video for both versions, if you want to see in more detail about them. The 10.5 video has more comparing to g1 12.9, going through more than just speed increase.
