The baking soda is sodium bicarbonate (has a hydrogen atom attached to the carbonate group), baking it removes the hydrogen and turns it to sodium carbonate (what the washing soda is), water and carbon dioxide.

Agreed! I make my own laundry mix, which normally includes laundry soda. However, many substitute by baking the baking soda instead.

That’s so awesome!!!! I’m going to share this!! How long does it usually take for the water to evaporate? (I paint a lot haha :)). I am also wondering if I can skip the washing soda and just pour the acrylic wash into a bucket and wait for evaporation. What are your thoughts? thanks for the awesome video and for being a sweet person that cares about our world!

Hi Seek :D unfortunately, I can't advise if not using washing soda would work as I have no idea how it works really. I just try to find ways on the Internet and share it. I usually use two big rectangle containers (the ones to pack food) takes about a few weeks for it to evaporate depending how hot and dry your country is. My country is hot but humid. All I can say is experiment and see what works for you :D thank you so much for your kind words 😄

It's worrying to see so few views in these kind of videos, that means the rest of the people just gets rid of it through the pipes, even if it means calling the plumber every now and then.. :/

Yeah. Sad to say a lot of people gets rid of it through pipes. I can't really say how foolproof is the method I shared as I don't think there has been much research put into it but I think it's better for it to go into landfills than in the drainage and water systems :/
