Welcome back to Art Vids for Kids, the DAI's video series where we explore fascinating artworks together and learn new things. Introduce your entire family to works from the DAI collection in these interactive videos, prepared and presented by our volunteer Museum Guides.
In our latest presentation, we’re going to look closely at a painting by Georgia O’Keeffe called Purple Leaves. She was inspired by what she observed in the world around her, whether she was on a farm, in the city, at a lake or in the desert. She liked to collect objects, like flowers, seashells and animal bones. In making her artworks, she would take the time to look at her objects closely. While we look at this painting, we’re going to investigate shapes and colors!
Featured Artwork: Georgia O’Keeffe (American, 1887-1986), Purple Leaves, 1922, oil on canvas mounted on board. Bequest of Virginia Rike Haswell, 1977.60
